several years ago we could hobby without a cell phone there were pay phones everywhere for the two call system. Today's modern hobby you need the following.

1. a computer
2. cell phone
3. g.p.s  so we don't lost on our way to a incall
4. internet on our cell so if we have a ncns we can call a audable at the line of scrimmage and get the second string.

and how about a ATM card can't forget that.

mine started talking during the second call of a two call to a new provider and it sounded like a police radio to her over the phone- had to do some fast talkin' to keep the appt!

Before ATM's, what could you do if the mood struck you on a weekend (Most banks never opened on a Saturday.) or nighttime?

With an ATM, you could swing by and pick up your cash and be on your way.

I have a laptop, wireless broadband card and a DC to AC converter so I am completely computer mobile. It has come in handy for keeping in touch during a busy day prior to an appointment.
I may get myself GPS for a xmas gift but I don't really need it for the hobby as I know my area well and only do out calls when I travel.
I generally book 2 hours and prefer to pay in larger bills so I plan ahead and don't really use my ATM card for hobbying. A cell phone and my ATF are really all I need when I'm local. TER, my computer and cell phone are my road trip essentials.

these days !  Do they still make " pay phones "?

I can't recall seeing a pay phone in a very long while ..  Hmmmmmm

They want to know our every move with the cell phones , grocery store discount cards they swipe when we buy our groceries.. they say it is to keep up with that we buy ... (lol) Yeah buddy !
