I get the vapors trying to figure out who's talking to who.

Seems like we could figure out a way to determine to whom a comment is directed.  I get dizzy trying to figure out who a member is talking to, especially on long threads.

Seems like there should be a way to do this.  Perhaps we could start identifying the person to whom we are responding.

I was reading the thread about asking for discounts and got dizzy going back and forth trying to figure out who was angry with who and who was just trying to clarify.

Am I alone in this vortex?

but not I. i do understand your concerns. Some posters have difficulty posting under the proper handle which they wish to offer something.

Just wait until you see the "new" version of the website!! The "beta" version was available this morning at least, from the home page.

All you'll see is a subject line from the OP and the number of responses. It's not in a "tree" type thread like it is now...and you can't avoid posts from people you'd rather not read. Basically it's just like most every other message board system out there...as opposed to the advanced and easy to use type we have now.

Just sayin'

You're right. I hate it. It seems that in responding to you the site is forcing me to quote you. Another tedious feature.

freaking awful, and as tex said, you are forced to quote the person you are addressing!  I avoid that site like the plague now.
Once you get used to the tree type as we have had here it is VERY easy to follow.  The new type will stifle participation, as people will get sick of having to read everything.

Bad Idea......But that's nothing new here!

and made my reply below, but did not get the quote window. This is going to be very interesting... or NOT AT ALL. lol

I'm sure that I won't be the only one posting a LOT less, if at all.

I know, I know! That's not real helpful, but I already knew what was going to be said in that post. However, if I read a thread, and start getting a headache trying to figure out who's talking to whom, I just move on.

You also have to scroll all the way back up to the top to make a reply (Reply button). Then how do you reply to a specific post? Did not see that.

clicking or double clicking on the subject line.

but please don't ask me to go back again and refresh my memory. YIKES! ;-)

Should be a required class. There are people who just can't understand the progression of a thread. I've mis-placed a few posts, but at least understood my mistake when pointed out to me. I've actually had people argue with me, and tell me to mind my own business, when I questioned the placement on their posts.

Protocol is to post your response directly under the post that you are responding to instead of reading all of the posts and responding under the last one you read-which is what many people do.

The protocol is there, people just don't use it.
