I have never done it and never will.  And I am so happy to own my business, and not have to follow corporate  that never close their greedy doors.  Good for Wal-Mart employees for planning a strike!

with, statistically speaking, 3.5 unemployed people competing for every 1 job available, and many families heading into the holiday season not even thinking about buying gifts, but worrying about how they are going stay afloat and keep paying mortgages and buy food, telling them they "need to get off their asses and fucking work" is a truly ignorant thing to say...

As far as Walmart "buck n a quarter" flunkies: Walmart has implemented some of the most egregious employment and marketing strategies you can find anywhere. And that's quite an accomplishment in an environment in which corporations maximizing profits at the expense of, not only their own workers but workers in foreign countries, while corp executives routinely pull down millions in salaries,  bonus's and stock options has become routine.

Yay for americans. We can buy cheap goods produced by workers in foreign countries working 6-7 days a week, 12-16 hrs a day, for pennies an hour.

are not the answer to people's problems. Just because times are tough doesn't mean that unions are good In fact unions just do the opposite of that. They hold you back to achieve your full potential.

Today, we have labor laws that are strong enough to protect the individual employees. We don't live in John D. Rockefeller - Andrew Carnegie - Laissez-faire era.  

I am not a Democrat, neither a Republican. Just speaking as an American...

Recession = when your neighbor is out of work

Depression = when you are out of work

I don't put much stock in the publicly announced job losses/increases/unemployment as those numbers in many cases are meaningless.  The people that have been in the work force for 30 years have been through very similar downturns.  

Unfortunately history always repeats itself...and for the newer employees they didn't understand that markets go up and down...and were completely caught by surprise with this downturn.  

So given the OP criticizing the large companies...I call bullshit on that (obviously given my prior post).  Plenty of opportunity out here...as well as jobs.  Just that many feel it's "beneath" them.

And people then bitch about the minority groups that come and take those jobs.  Then a generation or two later are leaders in those respective fields.  

Most people only see today...and can't envision a tomorrow.

Not a whole lot different than back in 2008 as the equity markets crashed...and the media announced the end of civilization...kind of like how they skew the jobs market.  Well...all I can tell you is I was a buyer.  Along with many others who saw a bright future for this country...albeit over a long-term window.  There's always opportunity if one isn't going to blame others for their inadequacies.

Oh well...that's life!

What does it really matter to say it's 2nd worse? Far as I'm concerned the OP's comments would be uncalled for regardless. Telling unemployed people to just "get a fucking job" is a luxury of insensitive assholes who are already employed.

What he is suggesting is that the currently employed Wal-Mart folks have an option.  STFU and work the job...or leave and do something else.  It's their option.  So if they want to go on strike...I agree with him and would suggest to Wal-Mart to terminate them (and bust the fucking union).  Easy enough...based on your comments that there are so many unemployed folks..to replace them in a moment.  And then those that listened to the union asswipes will have no jobs.  "Look for the union label"....blah blah blah

And the unemployment rate is just a number...easily and often massaged.  Let me know whey there are no more openings on any ad mall seeking employees.  Then that is a real number!!

Brilliant advice.

If you ever find yourself unemployed, by all means, run right down and pick-up one of those open positions at your local walmart.

Sorry you don't like the management style at Wal-Mart.  And no one is forcing you or any one else to stay there.

If those people woke up...looked at the opportunities out there...and there are plenty for those willing to get off their ass and quit bitching at "the man".

Since I have never been unemployed I guess I can't speak to what that would feel like.  But the fact that I have never been unemployed speaks to my interest in doing (and have done) things that I may not have wanted to really do (like a hooker seeing that smelly john as an example)...but I did them and continued to strive towards the work I wanted to do.

That's the difference between the employers and employees.  The employees want that guaranteed check and benefits...while the employer is the one taking ALL the risk.

And for people like you who advocate for the employees I get it.  I don't agree with it..but I get it.  Just that those employees can change their lives if they work towards being the employer.  And when that happens...that's a good thing.  But most won't go there...rather bitch and moan that "the man" makes all the money.  Yea...and "the man" takes all the fucking risk in keeping the doors open.

Want to discuss all of the vendors of Wal-Mart and those families and owners and employees that will take it on the chin because management caves in to a bunch of union asswipes?

We are less than 2 days away from Thanksgiving. There are millions of people/families out of work and struggling to make basic ends meet. For those that are unemployed---simply telling them to "get a fucking job" is beyond rude and insensitive---especially now.

Can you pull your arrogant head out of your ass for one fucking minute and just act like a you have an ounce of empathy?

And BTW---the fact that you ave never been unemployed does not speak to shit. Perfectly capable, responsible, energetic, intelligent, well educated qualified people find themselves unemployed all the damned time. I hope you never find yourself there.

To try and suggest that the economy is to blame is to me just another employee crying that it always someone else's fault.

Every day there are people all over this planet that aren't working....but in this country there are significant safety nets that don't exist in many other countries.  And those unemployed still are able to maintain some type of living.

I am not into religion, but am spiritual.

And I won't ever be part of any unemployed ranks as I was able to retire at a fairly young age.  Now I work for fun...often donating to my favorite charities so those less fortunate can have more.

But it wasn't a gift handed to me by anyone.  And I don't blame others if my lot in life is less than I wished for.

I guess standing in line for that $100 or $200 TV to save a big amount is worth camping out, but for everything else?  I dunno.

The economy is still pretty weak, and investment bank Morgan Stanley is predicting a worst-case scenario for a major recession in 2013.  I know that lots of retailers (and many analysts who are trying to see where we are going in the new year) are pinning their hopes on a strong Friday number.
