If you look closely, it's because she has one of her legs bent. So, you see her ankle on one side and her calf on the other.  Jeesh

but yes, despite it looking a bit weird, (once I looked down that low of course) your explanation makes perfect sense.

 
That said, as long as your critic manages to elicit an extra pic or two with his (false) allegation, I suppose there is no need to tar and feather him just yet.
