I'm wondering if any of you guys out there have ever had one of those "oh crap"  moments related to this hobby?

For example:  You are driving to work in the morning and all of a sudden think.  "Oh crap, I can't remember if I shut down all of the open websites(TER reviews and provider websites for your city or cities that you visit) and deleted the browsing history on my computer at home."  Then you have to decide whether to go back home and check or to roll the dice and continue to work hoping and praying that your wife or SO does not drop by your computer and see the type of stuff that you have been looking at.  Been there done that(returned home) a few times and there was nothing bad open but I still felt it was better to be safe rather than really, really sorry.  I know that having these things open does not prove anything but I know that I would be a dead man if my SO ever saw this type of stuff open on my computer.

Just wondering if you guys have stories like this or if I am the only one letting this hobby turn me in to a paranoid whack job

How do get that tab to work?  I suck at computers and don't know where that one is.

Thanks!

or something similar and set it to wipe your 'net tracks every hour or some such. Easy-peasy.

No need for the stress!

1. Turn on screen saver with password lock. Set timer to however minutes it takes you to finish whacking off to that favorite porn you watch.

2. Use a dedicated browser when surfing hobby related sites. Firefox is what cool people use. Install an Add-On called "Tab Renamizer" which lets you rename all the tabs to whatever you like.  I have mine set to "MarketWatch Message Boards" or "CNN.com" or "Yahoo Stock Chat".....  LMAO

3. Install a "hide navigation toolbar" add-on so that you can quickly hide / unhide navigation bar.  Shrink the navigation toolbar when you know you're just going to browse TER and no other sites, so that the URL is not visible (if hidden, noone can see the URL  www.theeroticreview.com)

4. Use adblock plus to filter out ter logo and anything else that looks like TER.

5. BOOK MARK all your favorite boards and links. Change all your bookmarks to some harmless short hand notation only you can recognize.

6. Go into the Tab Renamizer add-on settings and check the box that says 'use bookmark names for book marked sites'. This lets you use the shorthand names you chose for the bookmarked sites.

End result is a white website that looks pretty much harmless at a quick glance. You'd have to really start reading carefully to figure out what is written or what I'm typing because the fonts are kinda small to make any sense out of , at least from a distance.

I can browse TER from Starbucks in broad daylight without raising any suspicions. :D

Better be careful though, damn. I actually agree with Nick on this one. No SO, notta to worry bout. Free to do whomever, whenever as long as the cashish is still present.

...on covering your tracks. Check it out.

I have my firefox browser set to keep no history. I don't bookmark hobby related sites.

Then I let it go.

All of the sneaking around on the SO's must be exhausting

To get a separate laptop or tablet and just use that. Wipe that clean too but it's less likely that she'll be looking on it, especially if you tell her it's your work laptop/tablet. You can make up something like your testing out a tablet for your department, for example, if she asks more about the new device but that probably won't happen. You can even complain about having to pilot it and do extra work or something. Be creative.

It is password protected and no one other than myself knows the password. It locks 5 minutes inactivity. Browser is set up to clear history when closed, etc., etc.

Finishing packing for business trip, short one condom.  Knew I had several still attached together and one single in my stash to pack, can't find the single!  Looked in stash, not there.  Looked everywhere else, under beds, tables, etc.  Getting dangerously close to missing flight if I don't leave.  Finally went back to stash, it had stuck way down in a corner.  Phew!  No talking my way out of the SO finding one of those!

I get up and walk into the kitchen and say:  "Oh crap, what did I walk in here for?"

Then I go back in the den and sit down and remember so I get back up and go into the kitchen and start the whole process over again.

I will say that it's keeping me fit.  I must cover a mile or more each day that way.

If so, it only gets worse. I'm divorced, don't worry about that. But after pulling away from my house,  I've gone back to make sure I closed the garage door.

I'm crazy diligent about wiping clean all traces of hobbying. Where I've been caught before is porn watching (wifey doesn't care that much, but she's not a fan). Out of courtesy, I take pains to clear my porn as well, but recently I copy/pasted some links and didn't clear the clipboard. She was on the computer the next day and accidentally hit paste instead of copy and got a nice surprise!

And I have my computer (I bought her her own for her use) set to delete browsing history on shut down.  I never walk away from running computer.  I always shut down & thus delete browsing history.
I nearly got busted recently due my own carelessness...  I was naughty surfing when she was in the house & nearly got caught.  I had promised myself I'd not surf adult sites when anyone was home.  Really Dumb!
