Yanno, some of us just do that to people in general. It's just a way to be warm and friendly, and for me at least, is not limited to this industry nor to the men in this industry. It's just about being NICE. It's certainly not CHEAP nor CRASS... 'cuz I am neither.
I honestly wish more people went out of their way to be nice. It would make me a much happier person. Perhaps if you appreciated the fact that ladies are being warm and friendly instead of taking offense, you'd be happier too
Sincerely, Tamara (see the DC board if you're interested!)
Often when I contact a provider and give them my name they keep addressing me as "Hon" or "Sweetie". I find this to be very cheap, crass and a real turn off. I would much prefer that they address me by my name. A little feedback here, what do other hobbyists and providers think?
I call EVERYBODY sweetie, hon, or babe - all ages, all gender, all relationships. Always have. But, if it irritates you, that means it irritates others..so I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, Sugar.
Agreed. It is a corny, fake and sugar-coated greeting. It is one thing to hear it from your female relatives (grandmother, aunt, etcetera). It is entirely another to hear it from a stranger who is willing to f**k you for $$$.
I've been called "sweetie" by providers who are about as far from cheap and crass as one could possibly get. I've been called by my given name, my nickname and my TER handle. Nothing funnier than when a lady cries out your TER handle in a moment of ecstasy, then catches herself and apologizes. One lady chose to call me Tim (I have no idea where that came from.)
I must say that I really don't get too analytical about the whole thing. I just enjoy.

I can't stand the word baby. It's so inpersonal. I don't care much for hon either. I'm OK with honey, or sweetie as long as i am addressed by my name a majority of the time.
People these days have lost touch with common civility and good manners and 'terms of endearment" like those mentioned in this thread are just such a thing. As long as it is done tastefully (with no gum!) and in the right setting it is perfectly OK in my book and I should know these things, I wrote the book on good manners.
