TER General Board

If one wishes to drink heavily from the elixir of power, on the TER boards, all one has to do is insult, flame, or defame another behind an alias, then watch as the best that anyone can throw at him/her never makes it through the computer screen. It's like standing behind bullet-proof glass while others on the opposite side are railing and hurling rocks and garbage. What we can report to support we need to report, and not just the person who is being insulted, but each person who finds it insulting. What we can't, sadly, is best ignored. Just my humble opinion.

I for one would not like to give my business to a lady like Naomi Banks, who was "Latex Queen". I am happy to know who she "really" is....

Likewise I am sure that some of the ladies of the board would not like to entertain the person(s) who have made some of the more egregious posts. Knowing who they "really" are on TER would facilitate that.

You can make the argument that everyone is taking it too seriously. There is some merit to that point of view. In the end, not "feeding the trolls" is good advice regardless.

However, you might feel somewhat differently about it if you had pictures on line for some lady or ladies to criticize and make fun of on the boards..... If you were a person of color you might prefer to not give your business to a lady who espoused racist views on the board.

Just sayin.....

posts aimed at individuals, particularly when the writer hides behind an alias, so I am not defending these folks.  However, boys and girls will be boys and girls and, if most of the victims didn't get so hurt, I would think it best to ignore these pesky posts. Unfortunately, many of the targets don't seem able to laugh off the attacks and clearly get very hurt.  When this happens, simply ignoring the attack is not enough and we all need to make out support of the target clear. This is especially important for those of us who have had some contact with the person being attacked so our support is not pro forma. I think that's the best we can do.
This is important to me because my experience in the hobby has been generally one that has involved reciprocal affection and appreciation and warmth.  I have deeply valued that.

Is to fill the General Discussion board with good humored, thoughtful, and intelligent posts. There are obviously a wide range of interests among TER members. Some apparently think the more sensible, mature posts come from a bunch of pussies. They would much rather the board were coarser and more misogynist (like some other boards).

Those cruder members are clearly in the minority among the posters. They only make up a small fraction of the posts. The best way to annoy these folks is to pile on the enlightened and erudite posts and impose a style of our liking on the board. That seems to get them really annoyed.

.....I think everyone needs to chill on this and take a deep breath.  If someone is being a total jerk (not a difference of opinion) or being obnoxious then they should be banned by Staff or put on probation.  Otherwise whether or not someone uses their real handle or an alias one doesn't really matter from a hobbiest prospective, THEY ARE ALL ALIASES.  Now providers that is another story because you can link the providers handle to a website, etc.

CHILL OUT PEOPLE....have a great day!!!

By the way, do you notice most boards are moderated by Support....not very good when there are not enough good moderators to go around.

Well said, Gregory! Though I am more of an 'in your face' kind of person, and detest so called 'men' belittling these ladies, I appreciate what you are saying.

I've always had a temper problem, and it usually comes when it involves backing someone else up. Belinda's case is a good example.

People can say what they want about me. I don't care. But I've talked with Belinda and she's a wonderful lady. She doesn't deserve what that punk is saying on the posts. And it hurts her, which pisses me off.

I'm not a big guy. I'm about 5'10", 170-175. But it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

Know what I'm saying?

Yeah, I've been called a 'White Knight' and it's all good. I'd rather be that than the piece of shit that makes life hell for these wonderful ladies. IMHO.

So, yes you are more articulate than I in this subject, I think we still get the same point across.

Peace- Mike

No response means no trolls.

is easy to say. If the person getting blasted is someone you care about, it is not so easy to do.

mrfisher's starvation tactic seems to be something we might all consider. Post about anything you want, humor, a touching story, whatever. When the trolls intervene, with their inane, useless drivel, do your best to refrain from giving the the attention that they so desparately need. I know it's difficult to do, but I've seen a lot of them come and go. Not feeding them seems to be the best defense.

i think that the barbarians taste in a "fuck board" as it has been called by some aliases is that it be crude, rude and down. let's exercise some creativity. that way their attention might be deflected from single objects of attack.

and then having a few ladies shred and rip your appearance on the boards. Somehow I suspect you might feel differently. Maybe not - just sayin'....

Beyond that I agree with you. If its just assing off and not creating any real harm, fuck em. Words are just words. Best to ignore them.

Many posters and virtually all the active posters are much more than an alias. You can link the providers to their web sites, you can link hobbyists to their reviews, and even posters like me who don't review are often known by their posting history and can be held accountable for their words.

Alias posting has it's purpose, but when it's used to facilitate cowardly attacks on others it clearly is not in keeping with the original spirit of alias use, and the priveledge of anonomynity to those abusers should be revoked.

I would be entirely in favor of moderating persons who who just plain attack others multiple times or use multiple lines / threads to do so. Regardless of the issue of aliases.

If TER is stretched thin on the moderator department I for one would be willing to donate my time.

As much we all have benefitted from this place I would think many of us would be willing to do so....

and in general they can fall into categories.

I do not lump them all into Trolls as you do, but I do have a troll category.

First, there are the poor souls who have no clue...  somehow they have managed to find the internet - and ask repeated clueless questions... for example - do escorts offer sex?  and so on...

Second, are those who come on here as an amusement - for fun - and along the way find they like this electronic world... they contribute and try to be helpful...

Next come those who are here for amusement - but for fun, they like "stirring the pot" and when people say this in the real world, it usually means someone's head is gonna roll... in this world, same exact outcome.  These people only feel satistied when others feel pain.

Then there are those who are jealous - jealous of everything, they cannot stand it when others comment "good post" or "hey, I like what you say" etc.  They feel necessary to comment on how frequent a poster posts, or his language or whatever... but it is clear, they wish it was they who had written the leading posts....

trolls also exsit - they only wish to see their alias posted and think they have offered wisedom... and sometimes they do, but more frequent as they fail to read what others post, they oft repeat information previously discussed ad naseum...

ignore?  Difficult to do, difficult at best.

I will volunteer my time when I have been a member for one year (April 2009) and therefor am in compliance with the standards.  I will happily leave it to TER in their wisdom to decide if they want my services or not ';-)

....your post did not add any value to what had been previously said other than blow some hot air.  Unless I "know" that say GaGambler is John A. Smith they are all aliases or personnas and such, what don't you get.  You may think you know some for reviews and you may think you know some one from a meet and greet, but do you????  I did mention in my post previously that the ladies are different as you can hook a name up to a website.  Everyone should be respectful of one another, especially to the ladies and lighten up.

and quit being a "suckup" to the providers. Some of us are every bit as recognizable as the providers. You OTOH are just another unknown, hiding behind your veil on anonmynity, adding nothing of value to the thread.

You can go back and see every one of my several thousand posts on TER, I don't know a single thing about you except for the fact that you appear to be another one of the suckups that infest our board. Crawl out from behind your alias if you want to speak with me further.

time to get a life pal.....you also prove my point on "hot air".  Instead of being a "legend of your own mind", you are a TER legend or so you think.

You also need to learn what a "real" handle looks like and an "alias" handle as right now you have no clue.

Thanks for playing.....I don't have time to spend all day here.
