Additional Disgust for LE

Those of us in the LA area don't need more reason to be disgusted with LE, but just to show that misconduct isn't limited to LA county, these excerpts were from Saturday's LA Times:

Two Burena Park (Orange County, CA) police officers have left the dept. after being acused of two separate incidents of sexual misconduct on the job.

A patrol officer was accused of having sexual contact with a woman he pulled over and arrested hours earlier.  The officer stopped a 30 y.o. hairstylist who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, then arrested her.  The officer suspected that a bag in the woman's pickup truck contained drugs and the officer performed a body search on her before booking, reaching under her dress with his bare hands.  After she was booked at the station, the officer offered to give the woman a ride back to her truck about 3:30 a.m. according to the report.  When the officer brought her back to her truck, he ordered her to follow him to a dark and deserted parking lot on La Palma Ave.

Once they were in the parking lot, the officer helped her out of her truck and began kissing her, fondling her breasts and told her to perform oral sex, according to the police report. Detectives have sent their findings to the D.A.'s office, citing charges ranging from oral copulation under the color of authority to kidnapping.  The officer has resigned.

The second case in the same police department resulted in an officer who worked out of the Buena Park High School (as a school resource officer) has been charged with exposing himself to an adult on campus while in uniform.  The police officer, who has been fired, is charged with exposing himself to a female security officer on the campus.  He's charged with indecent exposure.  The officer denies the charges and said he and the woman had a previous relationship and that she concocted the whole story.

Buena Park has a police force of roughly 100 sworn officers.

I saw a lady for the first time this week as a result of a very positive review on our board. We met and, whilst talking about the hobby, she told me she had been busted just a few weeks previously.

I was surprised since this woman has no web page (only a Yahoo profile saying she is an escort) and is very much part-time (an amateur professional?!). I had figured such providers would be beneath the LE radar screen, I guess not.

They set her up with a hotel room sting, I guess nothing new there. What I was horrifed to hear is how the LE officer had fingers inside her and everything before they caught her out. He said he wanted a special service and would tip her extra for it. At this point they had not mentioned money, she had entered and he had pretty much started things - she said the tip would be nice and, blam, in came the detectives.

I guess this shows my naivety more than anything in that I didn't believe LE would go so far as to indulge in sexual activity with someone they are setting up, and then to pretty much trap them into saying what is needed.

Pretty disgusting stuff, especially when you consider what else they could have been doing that day. Of course, being users of this site, there is no need to rehash that argument.

It's one thing to have a job to do, it's another thing to use that job as a shield while you get your jollies abusing your fellow citizens.  In my mind what this "officer" did was a sexual assault, of the type you or I would be arrested for, but for which he'll not get even a raised eyebrow from his sergeant.  Burns me up.

I'm not so sure that all Sgt's would give a wink at this behaviour, but many might, They can be a leacherous bunch. Who can a young girl in trouble go to if not the police officer, total betrayal.

I had heard of cops cooking meth and stealing drugs from the property room! What a waste of tax payer's money.

Please tell us where this happened to keep the rest of us safe.

I read a big dose of naivete here. Let us never forget, most cops are honest, hard working people, but among them are those who lack any real moral character whatsoever--- These will take advantage of the most vulnerable among us for their own personal satisfaction, or to enhance their careers. These will lie, cheat, plant evidence, fabricate stories; anything to make an arrest and get a conviction. That is, never forget, how promotions are made, and reputations built.
Please forget what they taught you in High School, that you are innocent until proven guilty. Not so, when it's a sexual matter. If you are charged with a sex crime, you will find that you must prove you didn't do it! How in h--- do you do that , especially when the accuser is a cop? And, the cops damned well know all this.
The only way any of us can protect ourselves from being victimized is; Never let a cop find you alone, without witnesses, especially in matters pertaining to sex. Impossible for some of us, of course; JUST BE CAREFUL!

In America's 'finest city' by America's finest....

It is so sad to read about these experiences and there's no need for me to rehash things that have been discussed in the past. I think that you have to analyze the mindset of these depraved public servants in order to understand why they do what they do. Their shield (badge) serves as an incredible source of power. Add to that the pressure to produce arrests and we have a very dangerous situation.  Many of the "bad apples" are sexually deprived and have an attitude of "Who's going to find out, anyway?" They think that a jury will automatically adopt LE's version as the truth and toss out the provider's testimony.  Well, that's why we need to publically focus on these situations in an effort to minimize the damage that these guys do.  The cases coming out of Rampart Division clearly illustrate the point. It's get the arrest and the conviction at any cost even if it goes against the grain of the constitutional oath the officer took when he came on the force.  These guys, especially vice, are in their own little world where there are few gray areas.  They figure, "what the hell, might as well have a little fun". These situations are most boldly illustrated in the massage parlors and the outcall hotel stings.  It's kind of like "Fight Club" where the first rule is that "no one talks about Fight Club" This is why these busts resulting from Internet leads need to fought out in the courtroom. The issue is one of privacy and the more you deliver that message to the public, the greater the chance of exposing these "wingnuts" for what they are--.  While there are Internal Affairs coverups, Police Comission complaints are a different matter. The allegations are thoroughly investigated and presented to a Commission consisting of citizens rather than law enforcement officials.  Sorry for the long wind, but, unless the injured person takes a stand and decides to fight back, this problem is here to stay. Regards, levendi

when I first started, I was busted in a similar situation. But, I was still fully clothed, no discussion of money or "the act" took place. The cop was still fully clothed as well.

The police report said that I agreed to have a "blow job" I think that is what it said.

The police will do ANYTHING to make the arrest stick. Since then I have a strict screening process and ask for references from reputable providers that have seen you.

Leave us alone, officer, we are over 18.

I posed the question to my favorite lady; "how do you protect yourself?" She answered, that if they want to get you, they will, regardless of what you might do to avoid incriminating actions, or screening processes, or whatever. Remember, there are NO WITNESSES, and lying and fabrication is just standard practice for many of our "finest" .

Here's one for all you LE fans out there:

Brooklyn, NY.  Off-duty cop visits well-known strip club and gets royally shitfaced.  The strip club, BTW, is on the strictly VERBOTEN list for officers.  Now that he's plastered, he drives in for WORK(!).  Along the way, he mows down a young pregnant mother, her son and her sister.  Kills 'em all (including the unborn baby).  He was arrested, but the judge decided that he's such a stand-up guy so he released him ROR.

Lovely, ain't it?

Do I have to remind you all-  While Germany's national police no longer operate out of the Himmler Bldg.  and the Russian national police no longer operate out of the Lavrenti Beria Building, our FBI STILL operates out of the J. Edgar Hoover biulding, a little like calling a Children's hospital in Chicago the John Wayne Gacy Memorial Hospital!

So evil, corrupt cops are not punished here-    we make 'em saints!
