I was recently with two different providers, two nights in a row. One was still in college. The other closer to that mythical "provider retirement bungalow on a beach somewhere." She was lovely but at an age where the lights get dimmer and the photos get blurrier.

I couldn't help but wonder if the young one was on her way to becoming the older one. The college co-ed was extremely intelligent, poised, confident--the total package. I admired her plan to finish grad school and transition to a new career, but she did admit that the hardest part would be working 40 hours a week and earning what she made in a day.

Which makes me wonder, do providers get addicted to the money and lifestyle? And what makes you walk away? (Aside from Father Time). Desire to have kids? A significant other? And are you always tempted to go back "Just for a month to (insert financial reason here)."

Mad respect to the women out there, no matter where you are in your journey.

I think your questions, and the answers you gave yourself are probably all true. I mean if I could work just 6 hours a week and take home $1200 I would be tempted to do it. However what would that job be? Is it something that would haunt me, and something I couldn't tell anyone about? When family asks wow another new car, where do you work again? I think after awhile I would run out of answers and get a "real life" job, but how do you give up that money?

Your other Q&A is starting a family. Some of these women already have children and do this to support themselves without the help of a SO. Everybody has the dream of a family, always knowing that you have somone to come home to can be a great feeling.

Walking away is easy for some and difficult for others. The only way I could possible see a provider walk away, is they would have to make a clean break from everything and never look back. The temptaion of the "devil" will always be there and really the money has to be great for these ladies.

I could not respect most of these ladies more. Inteligent, articulate, funny, and just good people that are looked down upon by most of society. I have met some of the most real and unpretentious people in my life right here. When they walk away, I will be happy for them.

This industry will always be here, and I hope all the ladies can stay safe, screen properly so that they can weed out the true psychopaths. I will continue to treat the providers with respect, and happy for the friendships I have made.

MM

around the low hanging fruit has been picked. I believe that the majority of hobbyist are in the 40+ range and are the end of the baby boom generation. As boomers age (usually starting around 46 YO) they start cutting back on spending and luxury items in particular. I think bedding a hot lady for $$$ to $$$$$$ an hour is certainly a luxury. So there is going to be a big cutback on hobbying from the largest sector of providers market base. The law of supply and demand  will push prices down until ladies get out because the money isn't so EZ anymore or they drop their prices. There will always be a market at the hi end because there will always be a rich hobbyist but that is a small percentage of this market.

They are also going to deal with the law of diminishing returns. Let's face it. Once you figured out this TER site it was pretty EZ to find some really hot ladies and at price you could afford. The question is is the rush as good from the first 5 times you did this versus 20, 25, etc.  I've heard from several long term hobbyist that are getting bored with the whole scene. Again there certainly exceptions to the rule. To some mongers this is a need not a luxury. But for most of us this is an elastic demand item. If we are flush with cash we may induldge. If not there is always your SO (yeah I know not the same) or rosy palm.

There will always be more hobbyist coming along as well as providers but a lot of them will be strapped with high student loans and a stagnant job market. So the hobbyist won't have much money to play with and possibly thee new providers are doing this to pay off those loans.  I could be wrong but it's really hard to change demographics and the way people spend money during their lifetime.

I think you are spot on about the changing demographic. I also agree there will always be a market just not as strong a market as we have seen over the past decade.

I've wondered the same, myself. I also ask myself about the potential, long-term duration of my current involvement in the hobby. Is my current involvement merely just a phase I am going through at present because of some rocky times in the marriage and a temporary fulfillment of sexual and emotionally needs otherwise not being met? Probably YES. Or am I the consummate horndog always on the prowl for newer and younger flesh and, therefore, in the hobby for the long term. Probably NO, I am not the latter. I realized long, long ago that l could never, would never f*ck all the beautiful women in the world in my one lifetime, even if I could afford to do so. And another realization has come to pass, one that more than a few hobbyists have noted on this board: that one can spend a fortune on the many lovely providers out there, money that now or never will be available for our own retirements. Even if one can sustain the physical stamina, most of us hobbyists will not likely be able to sustain the expense inherent in this hobby. Some hobbyists have commented here that they have spent the equivalent of a BMW on the ladies (perhaps even more)! At some point in one's life, the absurdity of that realization strikes home! As London so kindly and periodically reminds us guys, sex is a luxury, not a necessity (although it can sometimes seem otherwise). I, therefore, tend to agree that at some point sometime soon, most of us baby boomers will be moving on with only our pleasant memories to entertain ourselves with a resultant drop in demand for providers as a smaller, less affluent demographic group follows and eventually replaces us.

LOL.  Indeed some people have spent much on the hobby.
That's why my 2 luxury German cars are paid for, so I can tell myself that I bought my German cars first and the extra cash I have is for the hobby.  My problem is bringing a nice German car to an incall  hotel that maybe be shabby.

It's true. The US economy may decline in a few years and the baby boomers are gone.  I'm in the last year of the baby boomers.

Balancing the federal budget to balancing their personal checkbook.

You do an excellent job of explaining what goes into your interest in hobbying and willingness to pay for it. Perhaps it would be a great world for you if everyone followed your lead, but it does not work like that. Your extrapolation of that to the world at large (my interest is going down and so are some of my friends' interest, so the number of people who are interested must be going down overall, and I know some people who have less money and more debt than their parents at the same age, so their entire generation will have less disposable income as well as less interest) is a giant leap of faith with no data at all to support it. Hell, I will go a step further and predict you are wrong. Since all prices are in a long term upward trend simply due to inflation, the most likely scenario is that provider pricing will continue in a long term upward trend as well. Sure, demand could collapse and pricing with it, but even you acknowledge that seems unlikely to happen anytime soon in this market.

If you really want to do some long term forecasting about supply, demand and pricing in a market, you might consider working on a somewhat more complex model, one that includes the overall size of the market, whether it is one or many markets, relative demand as opposed to absolute, and a myriad of other factors that will influence the market. For example, a lot of recent economic analysis has been focused on behavioral economics, which means how you feel about your situation is far more important than your actual financial situation (which may explain your post).

So your prediction has very little likelihood of being correct, and even less likelihood of being of any use. OTOH, if you can use the argument to get a lady to cut you a deal, it is a winner. Those odds might be much better, depending on how persuasive and determined you are.

good luck,

Would you agree that most hobbyist are 40+ and that hobbying would be considered a "luxury" item? Also there is quite a bit of data available that income and spending declines rapidly as we approach retirement and that most people have not saved nearly enough for retirement.  And this is not based on the individuals who are very wealthy. They will buy as they please with little change in their habits. But the vast majority will cut back and my guess is that this particular habit will be one of the first to be cut. Unless of course all hobbyist are uber wealthy which I doubt.

You make some valid points and your comments are most appreciated. I merely was making some subjective comments based on personal observations and on discussions with friends. In no way would my comments/observations likely hold up to academic rigor and peer review by economists (perhaps) such as yourself.
However, I really would enjoy seeing some academic articles on the modern-day economics driving the various levels of prostitution. Interestingly, in an earlier post today on the topic of TER being studied and articles/books being written, I conjectured that even economists will soon be writing on topics appearing on TER along with the other social scientists. You might just be our man with the training and the interest to do so!

The problem with the baby boom argument is that it doesn't consider birth rate relative to natural population growth. Yes, 1957 saw the highest birth rates in our history at slightly more than 23 per 1000. And while the current rate is 14 per thousand, the total population is 40% greater than in the late 50's. Total births in the US in 2007 broke the previous record set in '57. Nature has a way of perpetuating the next generation of horney bastards.

None of my friends visit with the Ladies. Most of them don't work, and play house wife. The ones who do work are in love with being monogamous husbands. None of these guys work in corporate America either, so I know they are not the genuine jet set hobby crowd.

I agree the "Profession" will never go away, however you are right. I'm part of Gen X. We were essentially the Generation that's grown up with WWW as a new Novelty *AND* much easier to find/discover a provider.

Generation Y/Millennial Generation--called Generation Me. This is based on personality surveys that showed increasing narcissism among Millennials compared to the Boomers when they were teens and sometimes in their twenties

Gen Y's are said to suffer -"Peter Pan" Syndrome/Generation, ...delaying some rites of passage into adulthood... These labels were also a reference to a trend toward members living with their parents for longer periods than previous generations" Gen Y--staying home well into 20's. Some don't even care to get a Driver License.

Providers are going to completely rethink their "business model"--especially competing against up/coming more and more SB's (more "acceptable" with friends. t's nothing more than a Provider on a "Schedule"-yet *COMPLETELY LEGAL* The reason, you're not paying for services, you're helping with Bills, you're going out ion (Real Dates)--Rewards afterwards.

Average SB makes $1500/month--and may/may not have several SD's--I see the news about SD's having 6-7 SB's--Spending $150K a year. Favorite/Highest paid is $5000/month.

Why more Providers don't offer this simply ASTOUNDS Me.

even if only for a few months. I have 2 currently, who allow me to take it easy on the provider side of things, so I don't discredit it, and agree, but there will always be more men who prefer to pay by the hour. We have had these discussions many times and "hobbyists" don't want to have to pay upfront and see the same woman for long periods of time. They want to play when the urge hits, and not be forced to pay x amount a month for x amount of sex. It takes 10 times as much energy to be in a SD/SB type relationship, than it does to simply email a provider and see her for 2 hours, then not call her again for a month or so. Most men here have complicated lives, so wooing and interviewing various sugar babies takes up way too much time for them.

Also consider, you just stated that the "average SB makes only 1500 a month." Um, the average escort charging only 300 an hour makes three or four times that. The reason more escorts don't partake in the SD world is because of things like that. Very few SDs, can really afford to have a provider as a SB, especially if they want us to ONLY be with them and no one else. You're looking at 6-8k on the low side if you want all exclusive, and I don't even know about the high end. For me, having one of two sugar daddies in addition to a provide income, is just perfect. When I stop posting so much on TER, you will know I lost a sugar daddy lol.

Sex for money is ILLEGAL!!!

And to guise as a SD/sb is nothing more than ILLEGAL prostitution.

Good luck on explaining the difference as YOU understand it to a judge  LOL

There aren't too many people walking around with that kind of dough. Anyone who'd be interested in that would probably contact the lady back channel. So a provider listing it on her website would probably cause more trouble in the form of crank emails and calls from time wasters is more than it's worth.

I work 6 hours a week and take home $2,700 for a week, and have a 4 month vacation with pay.  It's nice.

If I fell in love tomorrow, I can assure you it would be nothing to walk away from this with zero regrets, but as long as I am single and working towards something, I intend to keep doing what I enjoy "most" of the time lol. Right now, I could not see working 40 plus hours a week, because I have other things I am focusing on, but one day that will be just what I am looking for.

I would still hobby. Why mix love and sex?

What do they say....."Never mix grape and grain...." :D

Why do so many people generalize one’s unique experience, situation, unique situation, etc. You get the point. If you didn’t you will never get it anyway.

There is nothing common or general in this natural world applies to every living thing. Every living thing is unique, they think different, act different, live different, have different out look, different out look in life, different importance they place in life.

It is absurd to think and believe everyone in this world (admit majority) are driven by only $.

I would guess that 99%+ of the providers are driven by $$$. Try and get an OTC encounter.

Women have NO problem entering/re-entering the mainstream workforce after 5 to 20 years of $200K or more annual, clandestine cash income on a personally contrived, and very flexible schedule. (note sarcasm)

Interestingly the PYT's as well as "young" men both share a common youthful delusion of immortality along with their individual worlds maintaining an ever steady keel.

In the end it's the same. You either die suddenly on top, loaded, and full of self pride/accomplishment. Or you die slow from a thousand razor cuts from age, irrelevance, and bittersweet memories.

OH!! By the way; Happy Holidays! :D

whereas women, especially in the south, are just happy to be wives, mothers, and homemakers. I mean seriously, I might have an education but I would be just as happy staying at home, cooking, playing tennis, and taking care of both the emotional and physical needs of a man, whilst not having a career. It is good to have one to fall back on because marriages today are far from forever, but I would not feel any "less" without it.

The car we drove or dick size...FML, now I need to rethink my whole philosophy.

earn good money in a career, then come home to a man who cooks, cleans, raises the kids, and takes care of your emotion and sexual needs?

I earn pretty good bread but I have been thinking for some time that the domestic life would suit me for a while.

I guess the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

We might have to eat out more, vs. me always cooking a 5 course meal after working a hard day, because I am tired as hell if I have to wake up before 9 lol. Sex...never a problem. Even if we can't get that 2 hour romp in with all the works, I can certainly blow him in the shower before he heads out the door, and he can get me back later ha ha.

The babyboomers tend to spend on big houses, expensive cars/suvs, luxury items, and vacations.  Baby boomers paid for things they want as they grew up where things were not free.  If they wanted to see naked ladies, they bought and paid for playboy mags, expensive adult videos, go for a lap dance, etc.

The new generation tend to rent their crib,  pay for green Prius or small cars, and pay for Made in China cheapo/imitation stuff, and they are loaded with a lot of student debt, credit card debts, and other consumer debts.   They new generation grew up with free internet, free porn they can jack off to, and free nude pics on the internet, and oogle skimpy bikini girls on the beach.  The new generation feel entitled to free stuff.

I think while the Boomer generation is willing to pay $200 for an hour, the new younger generation may be willing to pay only about  two-thirds of that.

your stats from. Most every woman who posts on this board charges over 300 and is easily getting it....most report seeing 8-10 guys a week at that rate, which seems to make sense because I don't even see half that with a 2 hour min.
