I would like to open up an interesting topic of discussion. So....
What made you choose to become a provider?
I know money is a reason, but was it only the money?
Were you motivated by the NSA sex with the clients?
Were you interested in doing something society condemns?
Did a friend suggest becoming a provider to you? If so were they in the business?
Did you work in the "adult industry" in some other capacity? (stripper, etc.)
What have you found to be positive about being a provider? What is negative with this line of work?
What would you tell a friend that was thinking of becoming an escort?
I look forward to reading you answers.
Firts of all- I had a Roomate back in 96- I drove her to her call, where the man asked if I was a call girl. She said No.
Little did I know, I was out the door with her the following weekend, to a party where we had a Blast. The agency was called "the wild ones."
Then in 2000 I was doing massages- I ended up enjoying myself a little to much, that it became second nature. Met my bf during an outcall, and stopped in 2002-for the sake of the relationship.
Came back in 2007 and enjoy the benefits of going out on dates- while making ends meet. Is Perfect for me- Cause I don't go to bars. Im a full time Mom with responsibilities.
This is a great way for me to enjoy adult time without the games of relationships/ or friends with benefits...Besides, who in their right mind wouldn't enjoy the benefits. Besides common interest.
The only negative thing for me is>>> that I appreciate being treated as an individual. I dislike it when, men- have been in the hobby for a while that they forget about the respect part! or when they treat each and every lady as just the next one....
I know what Im doing here. I rather enjoy men that appreciate the excitement that comes from being with someone that is low volume.

When prying for personal information it sometimes helps if you open up first:
What made you choose to become a hobbyist?
Were you motivated by the NSA sex?
Were you interested in doing something society condemns?
Did a friend suggest becoming a hobbyist to you? If so were they a player?
Did you support the "adult industry" in some other capacity? (strippers, etc.)
What have you found to be positive about being a client? What is negative?
What would you tell a friend that was thinking of becoming a hobbyist?
I look forward to reading you answers.
I knew there was a reason we got along so well!

Hey, I'll bite:
When prying for personal information it sometimes helps if you open up first:
*What made you choose to become a hobbyist?
Years of celibacy brought on by a very damaging relationship and subsequent loss of all confidence and desire or ability to relate to women.
*Were you motivated by the NSA sex?
No. Never was one for "wham, bam, thankya mam" sex.
*Were you interested in doing something society condemns?
No. Quite the opposite. I'm a pretty average straight and narrow, responsible type guy. But I was out of options if I wanted to "recover" and get "back in the saddle". I had gotten so bad I couldn't of "picked up a whore in a whore house with a $100 taped to my forehead" to borrow a phrase I'd heard once.
*Did a friend suggest becoming a hobbyist to you?
No. Don't remember quite how, but found TER. The rest as they say is history.
*Did you support the "adult industry" in some other capacity? (strippers, etc.)
Not for many years, outside of the obvious...porn. Oddly enough though, as I'd put sex out of my mind for many years, it was an evening at a house where strippers were brought in to put on a show that got me to thinking "what the hell am I doing? Look at what I'm missing!!!"
*What have you found to be positive about being a client?
Sounds silly, but a completely renewed sense of self confidence, not to mention the spending of time with one of the most enjoyable women it's ever been my pleasure to be around. And I picked up a pretty good friend out of the deal. We're both moving away from what brought us together (the hobby). She's setting to retire and has drastically cut back on providing, and I'm moving on and with my new sense of confidence, desire, and self worth, am heavily civie dating now (and having some real success with that). That is something that was unfathomable a couple years ago. It has gone pretty far beyond what the original arrangement and boundaries were, and will likely continue in the absence of that arrangement for some time to come. It will never be a civie romantic relationship though as she's spoken for. I'm fine with that, and that was not ever where I was going with it.
*What is negative?
It costs bucks! As well as the ever so slight guilt over the indulgence. But not much of that. I had to turn things around somehow, and this was the only real option at the time. I sacraficed for years for others. It was time to do something to improve my happiness in life.
*What would you tell a friend that was thinking of becoming a hobbyist?
Be safe, and search, search, and search some more until you find one that's right for you. That's how I did it, and I hit the "jackpot" on my first try.
I look forward to reading you answers.
why so curious...why so many questions...it's one thing to answer so many curious questions after enjoying soooo much Pleasure...but I am curious of You...lol...are You writing a book...are You going to pick and choose who You would like to see based on answers...why do You want to know...I am a curious person...Please do tell ![]()
is assuming that something that is "interesting topic of discussion" for them personally is of interest to anyone else.
Unless a Lady became a provider to feed her drug habit or was forced into lifestyle by traffickers it is really no one's business as to why when and how.
I also never heard of a situation when provider starts session by asking her client the following:
What made you choose to become a client?
I know sex is a reason, but was it only the sex?
Were you motivated by the NSA sex with the providers?
Were you interested in doing something society condemns?
Did a friend suggest becoming a hobbyist to you? If so were they in the hobby?
Did you participate in the "adult industry" in some other capacity? (strip club client etc.)
What is negative with this hobby? What have you found to be positive about being a hobbyist?
What would you tell a friend that was thinking of patronizing escort?
Yet some clients think it is perfectly OK to ask these questions, as well as "so how many men do u see a day" or something else equally tacky.
We Ladies are in business of creating fantasy and escape from reality. So just relax and enjoy the company without TMI.
Lina
What made you choose to become a client?
I was horny
I know sex is a reason, but was it only the sex?
As I said, "I was horny"
Were you motivated by the NSA sex with the providers?
Yes, as I said "I was horny"
Were you interested in doing something society condemns?
I don't really care what society does or does not condemn, did I mention "I was horny"? lol
Did a friend suggest becoming a hobbyist to you? If so were they in the hobby?
In a way yes, I was hobbying long before there was anything called "the hobby", but a friend suggested going to a whorehouse in TJ when I was fifteen, and I happened to "be horny" so I agreed
Did you participate in the "adult industry" in some other capacity? (strip club client etc.)
I don't really care for strip clubs, they don't do you much good when you are horny.
What would you tell a friend that was thinking of patronizing escort?
If he was horny I would tell him to "go for it"
If you decide to write a book, can I get an autographed copy? lol
"I WAS HORNY"??? Is that correct? LOL
I hope you and your drunken brother/kin called home to wish your mother a happy day?
and yes, I sobered up my brother long enough to wish our mother a happy Mother's Day.
What made you choose to become a client?
> So I could enjoy the company of women and have great sex.
I know sex is a reason, but was it only the sex?
> 70% sex, 30% to meet interesting people
Were you motivated by the NSA sex with the providers?
> Yep
Were you interested in doing something society condemns?
> Not BECAUSE it was condemned. No.
Did a friend suggest becoming a hobbyist to you? If so were they in the hobby?
> Yes.
Did you participate in the "adult industry" in some other capacity? (strip club client etc.)
> No.
What is negative with this hobby? What have you found to be positive about being a hobbyist?
> Negative, it is expensive. Positive, I get to meet and have sex with wonderful women.
What would you tell a friend that was thinking of patronizing escort?
> I have counseled friends in both directions; depending on their individual circumstances.
and a more interesting question is: why does it come up so often?
Do people ever ask why other people get involved in various jobs, legal or otherwise, which are either looked down upon, or otherwise not mainstream?
I don't think so. The closest I can recall is when John Dillinger was asked why he robbed banks. "Because that's where the money is.", he retorted, and that was the end of that.
So, why this trade, of all trades?
Maybe it has something to do with trying to find weaknesses or insecurites, so much the better to control one with, but that's a hunch.
How about this then: There's a great demand obviously from men to find women willing to engage in no strings attached sex for a fee. There are a number of women who are fine doing that. Ergo, the men meet the women and that's why it happens.
Anything else is fluff.
I have asked (not exactly this question but similar ones) in order to ascertain whether or not I might be harming someone.
To many, I am sure the possibility seems preposterous. But our culture is not friendly to the hobby, and paints imagery consistent with exploitation. Furthermore, a substantial subset of the "Women's Studies" crowd paints an even more dire picture.
Many laws exist for very good reasons. Laws against murder, perjury, drinking and driving, larceny and so forth have a very sound basis. While it is true many of these are echoed in scripture; the fact society condemns and prosecutes murder isn't just because of a bunch of uptight fundamentalists.
So when I undertake the active and premeditated flaunting of a long-established social norm; it is important for me to understand if, by so doing, I might be creating harm even if that harm is not immediately obvious to me. If I am going to defy generations of accumulated wisdom and knowledge -- I want to be very certain I know what I am doing.
Thus, I have explored, interviewed and questioned a great deal.
So such questions do not, necessarily, come from a perspective that is ill-intended.
a lot of interest. As far as asking "why other people get involve in various jobs," I'm always interested in that question, no matter what career is at issue. However, I would never ask that question without having gotten to know the person to the point to where the question wouldn't be awkward or too personal. I have been told by one provider friend, but I never asked. I find that the less I can picture myself in an occupation, the more desire I have to understand how the person came to choose it. For a very, very brief time, during the first hour of American Gigolo, I could imagine myself as such, but during the second hour, that fantasy was totally wiped from my consciousness. ![]()

Yes, people do ask why/how other people get involved in certain jobs.
One of the most cogent discussions of this very topic is found in the introduction to Gladwell's latest book, "What the Dog Saw" (which I highly recommend).
It turns out that this process is very important in human development, and really never ceases to be. It can be stymied, with negative outcomes, by parents or a society who teach that such questions are, at their core, rude and out of place.
This is not to say that such questions are never rude or out of place and some of the excellent comments on this thread, including yours, mrfisher, have pointed out that the issue of respect is key. Good stuff, folks.
Look if you don't want answer DON'T! Skip it.
But why do you A-Holes find it necessary to put down other posters!
You Are Fucking up this Board!!!
KMA
You would think my brother would pull this post and spare the poster some indignity, but you all know what an evil guy my brother is. lol
Pass the popcorn brother ![]()
You started a thread. Other posters came on with their own responses - including asking why you are asking, which generated more responses.
You aren't getting the answers you like so we're all assholes? Nice way to keep the conversation going... so now, who is the asshole?

I fellinto this business in a weird way. But, with that said, I did it mainly because I love sex, and after being in a basically sexless marriage for way too long, I got to let me be the very sexual person I always knew I was. Until this business, I had slept with 2 men in my civie life and never had a one night stand. I wasn't a prude, just wasn't me. Now, I get so turned on by NSA and the truth is the money aspect of it gets me hotter then I would ever admit vocally.
The best parts of being a provider are the above mentioned. The bad thing about being a provider is never have civie friends you can confide in.
In the beginning I was strictly DOmme..
so..was that TMI??
Dear Maturebridgette:
I was wondering would you have some friends that would not have a mindset that would not be conventional so that they wouldn't be as accusatory or judgemental on their position with respect to the profession? Or is it hard when you know their views on a cross section of topics so that it is intuitive not to disclose what you do to them as well? Your thoughts on broaching and disclosing the subject. I am just wondering do you feel like Belle on secret diary of a call girl when she is trying to disclose to Ben what she does.
1. Money
2. Money
3. Money
4. Money
5. Money
6. Money
7. Money
8. Money
PMH's rule #1. Never ask more then one question per thread.
I will save the other rules for another day.
"NO, it was purely the money"! What kind of answer to you think you'll get? Besides all the usual guys are going to answer this got them anyway! Great Question!
What made you choose to become a provider?
It was a fantasy I had from the age of 14. I was never interested in having one boyfriend.
I know money is a reason, but was it only the money?
The opportunity to have not only financial freedom, but power over my schedule. Because I don't have to worry about finances, I could afford to take the risk of starting my own business, and nurturing it according to desire not need.
Were you motivated by the NSA sex with the clients?
Some gents are fantastic in bed, you hit a great chemistry together, it's a good motivation to stay in the lifesytle.
Were you interested in doing something society condemns?
No. I was interested in doing something I thought would be exciting, fun and full of adventure. Society condemning it was draw back, it means added pressure, stress and the danger that your life will fall apart is word gets out. That isn't fun, that's stress.
Did a friend suggest becoming a provider to you? If so were they in the business?
My friends did not suggest it, but when I told my two closest friends I wanted to be a provider they encouraged me. My first date was April 1st and we have a party on the anniversary of my first date every year.
Did you work in the "adult industry" in some other capacity? (stripper, etc.)
I was a stripper for three days and then I quit. I worked in porn, but on the business side, not on camera.
What have you found to be positive about being a provider? What is negative with this line of work?
It's an endless education. Meeting brain surgeons, bankers, anthropologists, professors, scientists - people from all walks of life - means that you learn from each of them. I have gained a wealth of knowledge from the men that have crossed my path. They have also introduced me to knew foods, new places, new writers, new plays, new music, things I might not have found on my own. It's been very enriching.
What would you tell a friend that was thinking of becoming an escort?
1. Do it, but don't let the money own you. If you can't say no to the money, you'll end up angry and bitter. If you make personal comfort a priority, and pace yourself, then you can have a long happy career.
2. Always have a fallback career. Never stop adding to your resume, portfolio, or education. If one day something happens to prevent you from being a provider, you want to be able to join the work force without a gap in the resume. If you continue to pursue your education and professional life, then you can earn an equal income to that of a provider in the mainstream world. Also, having a second income means you don't have to see people you don't like.
The dating pool in Los Angeles, given its a HUGE city, is actually very small. Most men are fake, liars, cheaters, etc...
I also have a day job/career and like most hobbyists don't have time to date. Providing is the perfect balance for me.
