END OF MESSAGE

So I weigh in to the low rate -boo hoo contreversy we just had and I am on the side of relax- who care what one hobbyist thinks, right?

Well I got PM'd by one of our community's leaders on the lady's side who told me that when searches are done on TER, the searches are all for 7 and over. Thus a lower score than 7 can have a negative impact on a lady's ability to be considered by TER members

So- you all know the Mendoza Line in baseball- hit over .212 or go home.  Has the 7 become that for TER reviewed providers?  Now that addresses the issue more rationally for most of us dudes.

Personally, I search for 5 and above, since the skill level is the issue for me, and I think guys ought to since I think totally hot women are often a littl warped by their beauty (NOT ALL- BUT MANY)and either are snooty or needy about it, while real women are just more fun to hang with.  But that's me, Mr. Vegas- ooops I just was channelling John candy for a second...

What do guys think?   Is the urge to do the prettiest girl in school still an overriding one?

What say the dudes?

I check all new reviews posted ...
I look at her profile ... she must
not smoke during session
DFK
DATY
allow multi pops and be in my price range.
If she meets these qualifications I then read a review or two to see that her reviews match her profile.
If all is still looking good I then move on to her website and see what she looks like, everything still looking good she is then placed in my favorites file.  I never look at scores, all scores do is lead to "YMMV"
If she is a "she just laid there", "Ok if your drunk", "should have stayed home", or a rip off, post it in the review or somewhere to let us know .... my .02

I've always considered "7" to mean pretty and attractive. It
certainly shouldn't be taken as mediocre.

The ratings vary wildly from person to person. What I might
consider 7 and above may only be a 5 to other guys. I have
found that most men give 8 and over to the tall, Big Boobed
"Barbie" types (think Brooke Burns from Baywatch) whereas I
have always preferred the small, pettite, younger types (like Britanny Murphy, or the Japanese girl with the mace in "Kill Bill").

Personality should also come into play. I am probably out of
the mainstream here as well, as I prefer the shy, passive types
to the aggressive ones.

I didn't weigh in down below, (mostly because I'm new here) but I think the guy had a point. Whether it's because guys want the "prettiest girl in school", or some other reason, he may have a point. You may look for 5's and above, others may be 7 and above, I'm one of those guys.

Personally looks are important to me when choosing a companion. I've been going through an agency since I started. The owner is very nice. We've met and I've provided my "standards", a mix of looks and personality, with an emphasis on personality. (my few experiences so far have been three to four days, so I want someone who will have fun.)

Long story short, a six is a pretty big negative to start with. If the woman is all 6's, then I'll pass. If she is one six with others giving her higher scores, I'll look at her website to see for myself. Also, I'd look at what the guy's standards are by looking at their other reviews to see what they rate as higher. Frankly, the guy that PM'd you may be right.

I don't worry the slightest bit about appearance scores when I do a search...quite capable of making up my mind from the pix (assuming the reviews indicate they're accurate) of what I think of appearance using on my own criteria.

And based on some prior comments in past threads, a lot of guys are exactcly like me in the appearance vs performance debate...performance is paramount!

I'd much rather have a 6-9 with a good personality & attitude than I would a a 9-6.  I've had both...the 9-6 left me feeling I'd spent my money poorly---the 6-9 is someone I've seen often & it's been money well spent.

I search for those services I require, look at them in performance order and usually ignore the appearance scores entirely, looking at the pix on the provider's site after chosing those I'd like to pursue.

The main focus of my search is on reviews by guys who have seen some gals I have also seen, to validate the accuracy of her reviews.  I have met wonderful ladies of all shapes, sizes and looks who have been fantastic partners for the time spent with them.  This is the reason most of my reviews have such high scores for performance.  Do the homework.

F.

I'm actually one of those guys for whom appearance is more important than for most. I don't think I'd take your looks-versus-skills tradeoff, all other things being equal.

But that doesn't mean I use the TER "appearance" feature. I don't trust it (as I mention elsewhere in this thread) and therefore use the website pics to make my OWN assessment of her looks. Consequently, ladies without a website are simply never patronized by me.

I much prefer "bigger" women anyways (as anybody I have seen will attest to), so what I find attractive is usually different than what most men view as a beautiful person.  I have never been attracted to beauty queens or supermodels.  I would rather have Lynda Carter over Kate Moss.

Furthermore like others, I much prefer a women who performs better over skin deep beauty.  To me every single woman has something or some things that are beautiful about her.  With some it is skin-deep, and others it is much deeper than that.

A 9 Looks, less than 7 performance person to me is totally not satisfying to me at all.  OTOH any women who deserves a 8 or above in my book is a wonderful experience no matter what she looks like.  If she is there to please me, and not just look good, that is all I ask.  Attitude is everything.

Personality and attitude mean so much!!!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I have seen reviews that ranked a lady a "7" for looks and wonder what the heck the guys were looking at?  IMHO the lady was much prettier than that.

I'm a guy who likes thin, svelte, little spinners. That's why I'd like to do Lynda Carter! LOL.

I'm just making the point, that the two women you juxtaposed in your previous post, as an example of "big" versus "little," are BOTH (to me) EXTREMELY "little" relative to the average American population. I'm sure you wouldn't prefer Rosie O'Donnel over Winona Ryder, even though Rosie is much more ... umm ... big-boned. Lynda Carter was thin and long-limbed and lithe and supple, just also tall and big-chested. To me, that remains viable, because it twigs femininity receptors in my simian brain.

Actually in your example, I would much prefer Rosie's body type over Winona's anyday.  I much prefer larger women.  Now many men would say to me that I must be crazy or weird, but to me a skinny woman is not a real woman to me.

Of course this is personal preference, so take it for what it is worth.

I am still relatively new, however, I still have a system that is batting a thousand for me. I take my time and pick a lady who gets big numbers in BOTH appearance and performance and is in my price range, then I make the call and take a 'feel' for what the woman is like and if no alarms ring then I make the date. This seems really simple but its working great for me.

Unless it's just Rosy and me browsing for some eye candy, I never use appearance as a search criterion.  I trust my own eyes much more than anyone else's idea of what constitutes an 8 or 9.  Performance often skews appearance scores anyway.

I would agree with all of the fellows who posted above me. That is what logic tells me and that is how I search.

However, logic does not apply here. In this imperfect system we have here with respect to reviews, the low numbers just plain hurt!

I search on the basis of "skills" (what is it, "Performance," is that the term?) and let the website tell me about "looks," since I know most men have varied preferences in terms of visual appearance and, furthermore, will rate EVERY SINGE WOMAN THEY EVER SCREW in the 8 9 10 range because otherwise they'll lower THEIR OWN self-esteem. Heh.

So, my usual search is something like:

- sort by date
- exclude bad websites
- looks range 0 to 10 average
- skills range 7 to 10 average
- overall range 6 to 10 average
- in my location (usually defined by a variety of area-codes, not by the city button)
- has at least two reviews (often I start at three or four)
- price below such-and-such (depending on how generous I'm feeling, usually somewhere around $300 per hour)
- BBBJ
- DFK
- age up to 30 maximum
- height up to 5'8" maximum (hey, they're MY preferences! I get to pick!)
- breasts up to 35 and C maximum
- no breast implants

Then, as I do or don't get hits, I return to the "search" page and modify in the hopes of finding someone whose WEBSITE pics turn me on.

Oh, and those sashes draped across yer belly, ladies? They don't fool me. Dancer-bodies don't have to hide anything.

Agree with all except I use 5-10 for looks.  Got to give TER posters some credit for taste--as in appearance not DATY.

No matter how many threads get posted about how these scores tend to be purely subjective, people get their panties all in a wad about not getting a high enough score.

Exactly what is a looks scale?  Is it linear or logarithmic?  What is a 10, and what is the difference between a 10 and a 5?

Did it ever occur to "ButtUglyIsMe" that maybe the guy found her beautiful, but was worried that others might not, and was just trying to be objective?  To put it another way, many of us would do a "5" in a heartbeat, because we think of ourselves at a "3".

A top performer tends to have inflated looks ratings, and a bad performer has undervalued looks ratings.  Even pictures can be misleading.

Excellent points. I hadn't realized that one motivation for these threads was, quite simply, that people's feelings had been hurt by getting rated lower than they wanted to be. Doh. I guess whining to the teacher worked in third grade to make your performance on the test better even though you didn't actually change any of your answers, so it might as well work now ...

Actually, the Mendoza Line is .200......The whole thing came about because a utility infielder in the 70's, Mario Mendoza, always ended the season batting at or around .200.  Just thought you'd like to know.  Check out the numbers........

I'm not sure it has an actual value, although I think the quip that started it was the year he hit .196.   I always take it to mean batting over .200.

Anyway, here's Menodoza career batting stats:
