Can you get something from oral? Yes. Likely? Probably not. But only you can make the determination of how much risk is okay to you. This is an adult activity with potential consequences.
The previous poster had a great idea in the suggestion to look in the Erotic Highway board. Sound advice, with some actual medical professionals pitching in now and then. By asking questions and getting educated on risks, you are on the right track to finding what works for you.
I have seen a few providers since I started this hobby and it's been nice.... but my problem is I love oral, mostly receiving, but also giving. However I usually receive CBJ instead of BBBJ. And I've only done DATY once and I was really nervous. So the question is, in this hobby has anyone ever heard of someone receiving an std from BBBJ or DATY? Thanks for the input!
Go to The Erotic Highway Board then click the Check Messages Tab at the top. Enter the words Oral Sex STD and you'll get several listings just from the last 30 days.
You must read and decide for yourself. Check FAQ for newbies.... couple of articles on STDs, also go to Craigs List and look for the SF Clinic STD info.... probably found under erotic services.... both good reads.
Bottom line: disease from bbbj seems to be rare. Daty- same. Primary risk is herpes, but oral to genital and genital to oral less common ways to get hit.
Most of us love DATY and BBBJ enough to take the small risk..... but if you can't live with the small possibility of being the one... abstain.
I think most of us deny that the more common risk is the unprotected genital to genital sliding many of us fall in to even though we cover up for penetration.... little herpes protection there!

disease with oral sex. I hate to answer this question, but it is important. The reason I hate to answer is because it is hard to give flat numbers. If you daty, you can get gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, and the genital virus. You can pre treat yourself with zithromax for chlamydia, a second generation cephalosporin for gonorrhea, and valtrex for herpes. The virus will not hurt you but does increase the very low risk of developing throat cancer many years later. The risk remains low. If your gums are not inflamed and you have no open sores that is pretty much it. The risks are low and you can pre and post treat. Discuss it with a physician you trust. These medications are not harmless. Receiving a bbj is almost risk free if you are circumsized and have no open sores.
While I've been lucky, there is no assurance I can give myself, that my very next encounter will not result in an STD... none.
I've recently found a lady (civie) who told me, she used a condom... and yet contracted an STD... (condom broke... ).
If you have that fear, don't accept a BBBJ, and don't DATY, and for heaven sakes, under any circumstances don't BBFS.
I would only add to Doc's comments that you get tested with some regularity. If treated, most of these 'go away' and have little or no lasting effects, but if untreated, they can get ugly - and lead to other complications... How regularly should you be tested? Depends on how frequent you hobby...
You may also, as a part of your prescreening ask a lady if she tests... Ciera Sage offers some discounts on filming your tryst with her IF you provide an AIM test result specified on her site... and she use to post hers there as well... but then again, she is extremely professional - and very good GFE/PSE...
I suspect that others may be willing to share their testing info with you...
again, this hobby is not safe... well, not totally safe... is it safer than bungie jumping or skydiving? as Joe says, difficult to get exact numbers...
Find a good doctor or clinic and visit it occasionally just in case. Some of the more prevalent stds do not have symptoms, still if you're worried, it doen't hurt to use a weeks worth of antibiotics just in case.
If your looking for a hobby darlin that is 100% i would suggest stamp collecting..but if you stay with the Upscale, classy women that TER has to offer then relax and enjoy yourself because OUR health is of the upmost importance to us which in turn relates to you having peace of mind. Relax and enjoy your time with us! Jay
So, just exactly how prevalent is genital herpes out there? I heard that the national average for women was 25% infected. Would a conscientious provider beat that average, or is the incidence higher? How many of you hobbyists have contracted herpes?
