I don't have a problem with any info at all. If they want to know what elementary school I went to or what division in the army I was in, I will tell them. She is trying to gather enough information in a few minutes that you would give a potential civvie girlfriend over a few dates. Both with the intention of getting in their pants.

The topic of misuse of screening information recently came up on a regional board, so it got me wondering how much information is necessary for a provider to know about a hobbyist.

Providers websites usually contain forms or contact info that request hobbyists screening infomration ranging from name, provider references, contact number, date of birth, Ter handle, work, and several others.

There are also well known verifcation sites like RS2K, Date Check, and others that make screeing simpler.

Some hobbyists refuse to give any personal infomation for fear of being blackmailed or being outed.

While providers routinely ask for screening information for their safety.

So what do you people on Ter think, how much screening information is appropriate?

I was a little uncomfortable providing work name and phone number when I first started because I owned my own small business and feared the calls to verify would raise suspicion.  Over time as I saw mainly well know good providers in my area, I lost that discomfort by and large as these ladies were most professional.  I still have a little fear of what an upset provider has the capability to do with the info as I have noticed that providers are not immune to jealousies and hurts.

Nevertheless, as I see only established good reputation gals,  I willingly give whatever they ask, which is usually name, phone number, work, work number, and references.  I did join RS2K and while few of the providers in my area are members, most have accepted that in lieu of work info so my work has not been called to verify in a long time.

There are easy ways to call the office without raising suspicion... hell, think of all the solicitors that call an office on a daily business. When I worked in an office, it used to drive me nuts that these copy toner salesmen and credit card people and stuff used to call... so when I call, I always assume the identity of Katie, the copytoner sales girl who is calling to see if you are well stocked. ;) Easy.

Hmm that's kind of hot, I almost want you to screen me just for fun. Though I'd never get the call, my secretary or floor manager would.

I've been recently screened without a hitch, I don't much worry about it. I feel you get what you pay for though, if your trying to skirt the fringe (Less than $300 per/hour) you might be playing with fire giving up too much info. Also if you give this info up to people with few to no reviews your also playing dangerously. It boils down to common sense. I know I sound like a know-it-all, and I have no reviews, but I'm new to TER. I've been seeing providers since the mid ninenties, I know a trick or two.

Speaking of reviews, I do have one I never wrote, so I'm going to go do that.

Darn, here I told my staff to never allow those calls to come through.  What was I thinking!!!

What's "too much" is not the same for everyone.  It's whatever is too much for you.  For myself, I no longer give as much information as I used to e.g. work information, since that provides a greater risk to me now than before and I am not willing to take it.

If you and the lady can't come to agreement in the information to exchange, thank her for her time and move on.

I don’t give any personal information.  I give them my TER handle and that’s it.  So far I haven’t been denied.  I have reviews going back 6 years so maybe that is why my TER handle is all that is needed. The way the economy is slowing down, you are going to see less screening and rates drop as the competition heats up.

I hate to think that girls would put their own safety at risk to see someone because they feel their business is slow. Just because a reviewer has a string of reviews dating back doesn't mean he's legit. There are people that you guys call to attention all the time on the boards who are writing fake reviews. Personally, I'd need more info, but I'm the type that's paranoid about my safety and would rather get more info to ensure my safety than less...

I don't fault you for being careful. However, I have never been turned down by a provider because of a lack of information.  If a provider refused to meet with me because she wanted additional information I would just move on.  There are so many providers available in Southern California to choose from, why get hung up on one?

but I personally wouldn't put my safety and security below the almighty dollar.

give out only the information he is comfortable with giving.  Some guys have jobs where discretion is a BIG necessity.  A guy can always join a referal service such as preferred 411.

The ladies need to screen to ensure their safety.  Whatever screening they feel comfortable with is fine with me.  Unfortunately, there are some crazy ass people out there that want to take advantage of ladies who may be unsuspecting.

seem reasonable to me.  Work information can be very touchy.

I used to run a service and work myself back in the 80's in Los Angeles when three different serial killers who targeted hookers were out there.  I would not even take cash - I insisted on a check or credit card WITH a drivers license.  I would verify each license through telecheck.  I never got busted or even looked at wrong.  Cops could not give you anything but cash and crazies would leave a trail.  But this was before the internet and rampant ID theft.  I personally wouldn't give out credit or check info to anyone today myself because of fear or getting totally ripped off.  If working today - I'd accept a listed phone number in his name, or look up some things online.  If he owns a house or has a business license - you can look it up online.  I wouldn't trust a review here because I was turned in  by Alex - Beverly Hills Madam - who turned out to be an FBI informant.  Heidi didn't listen to my warning about not trusting her and look what happened to her - three years in the penn! Look there's places I read about in the news that will take a guy off the street for $15 and no questions.  Honestly - a girl is going to screen according to two things - if she has a pimp or a drug problem where the only thing she cares about is money - or how much she values her safety.  The more a woman values her safety and is not pressured by a pimp or a drug habit - would be a girl that would be safer to see in many ways.  Look some people would buy sirloin if sold at $0.99 a pound.  Some would question where it came from and it's freshness and not take it if given away.  It's all up to the girl to decide what she needs to feel safe - and the guy has to consider her guidelines to tell what kind of woman she is (or man).

Madam Alex was never an informant for the FBI.  The FBI had nothing to do with Heidi Fleiss’ arrest.  She was investigated by Beverly Hills PD and LAPD, and she was ultimately arrested by LAPD.  The Internal Revenue filed charges on her through the U.S. Attorney’s Office in LA and she was convicted of tax evasions and sent to Federal Prison.  Madam Alex was not in Beverly Hills, she was in Studio City, in the San Fernando Valley.  Her boyfriend was LAPD Captain Steve Gates, the brother of former LAPD Chief Daryl Gates. Nothing was ever proven against Captain Gates, but for some reason, Madam Alex was never arrested and she was in business for a long time.  All of this is well documented in LA Times articles and in a book written by Heidi Fleiss. BTW Captain Gates retired before Madam Alex retired and long before Heidi Fleiss was arrested. Heidi Fleiss got herself into trouble because she flaunted what she was doing in the face of LE and they were almost forced to do something.  The head of the investigation was a Lieutenant named Ackermann who said in a televised interview that Heidi Fleiss was her own worst enemy because she couldn’t keep her mouth shut.

...if I really want to fuck the woman I'll tell whatever she wants to know.

if you dont like the way a provider runs her biz, just dont do biz with her.

enough to make the provider feel comfortable and at ease when meeting. On the other hand if it reaches a point where your not comfortable you should move on and find a provider that is willing to work within your limits.  It does not make sense to pursue or approach a provider in hopes of evading what she believes are safe guards.
Also if the providers is reputable she is likely asking for her own security and will likely discard it afterwards.  Why would she risk using it against you only to ruin her reputation and biz?
A hobbyist that is apprehensive and clearly trying to evade an info requested is more likely to send up a red flag for a provider than one that had no ill intentions and willing to work with the provider
