About two weeks ago I experienced similar problems....

where a problem message would appear whenever I tried changing pages.

I wrote to staff and described the problem and it stopped after a few hours.

Maybe it was something the staff was on top of and maybe it was just coincidence.

I've given up trying to make sense of computers years ago.

Is anybody else experiencing problems? I click on a link, the icon just churns, nothing happens - it's only TER, no other site.

WTF?

getting some trouble w/ log in: get server message errors...generally fixed in a short time.  But definitely my end.

Site was slow last night after problems around dinner time.  Probably a server related issue that's been fixed; everything seems ok this morning...

It's also worse the longer one remains on a given page. I think it has to do with the animated ads, somehow it makes it get stuck. Whatever it is, it's a royal pain in the ass. Posting a message can take a dozen or more tries.

not last night. I was online here quite a bit, but didn't see any evidence of it. I have on other occasions seen this trouble though.

It is possible to have network trouble that affects certain sites (somewhat geographically) but not others.

The new update one mostly.. I just move over to Safari or Opera, and it's fine

I've also experienced a few times over the last few weeks. It seems to only last a little while, then the site is back to normal.

For those of you less technical, if you let it spin long enough, it comes back with database error messages.  Either the site is going through its backup procedures, or there's something called a stored procedure that hangs or runs out of control.  I actually see it happen quite a bit the past month or so.  Typically an indication that somebody at TER or their hosting company isn't taking proper preventative maintenance, or they're running out of space or processing power. It has nothing to do with your brower, nor your computer.  The problem is purely at the server level.

OK, the technical lesson is over.
