I'm a provider and I never know what to say! I say I'm an Office Assistant, but I'm not. This is my full time income source. Sooo providers, what do you all say when someone asks, "What do you do for work?"

If it's just some random stranger I tell them I'm an accountant (I used to be so not a million miles from the truth) and then they usually don't ask any more.
(Apart from Dublin taxi drivers who always seem to ask far too many questions!!)
I'm a CPA and a gal recently told me the same thing when we met for a session. I of course know all the accounting firms in town and starting talking about the people and jobs.
It became clear quickly she was lying out the wazoo that she was an accountant![]()
I think gals should tell random stangers that are guys, they are a urologist. Then glance at their crotch!
No guy wants to talk about that ![]()
Much like the strippers i know, the providers I've known tell civvies they're "students" and then ramble on about some online college program they're currently involved in.
Being a student (if they acutally are) might explain WHY they are strippers or providers - it is actually an excellent way to pay for college. It does not however, explain how the rent is getting paid each month while studying.
I am a student as well as a provider. Only one year away from a degree in Nursing. (yay me) But that doesn't explain how I pay the bills. For that I creatively tell the truth that I run a small business LOL
A provider I see occasionally (who doesn't like to be reviewed, unfortunately) is supported completely by her parents. So when she says she's a student, she says she lives off of her parents. What everyone doesn't know is that she's able to shop till she drops because of providing, not because she's supported that well.

sure...i love the nipples and ballcocks
and I am the "head" of their training department, traveling a lot, giving "oral presentations".
People look at me and say "ohhh BJs, we don't have any over here".

It's Entertainment Consultant
To most people reply sales or Real Estate (selling mounds, hills with deep fissures, a few valleys a couple of candy stores and boxes and of course nicely manicured bushes)
If it is the IRS you are unemployed and you have a couple of generous friends who bought you that Ford Mustand.
I am new to providing, but was (still am to a limited degree) a phone sex operator for three years, so I'm not new to coming up with creative honesty when it comes to my occupation.
I have always told people I work from home doing freelance office work. If they asked questions, I would tell them that with fax, email, and a phone, I could do just about anything a secretary can do only on a freelance basis. It sounds pretty good anyways, and explains why my income is a bit better than your average secretary LOLOL

I like the last one about doing freelance office work. That might just work. Still really curious what other girls say, so let's hear it! Thanks to all that posted.
I find that this line is helpful for many reasons...it explains why I am not always available to drop everything and go do something when invited "Sorry Mom, I can't help you floss the dog tonight, because I have a powerpoint presentation to finish up for that guy in NY". She just doesn't need to what sort um, powerpointing I'm doing.
Also, I tell them that since it is freelance for the convenience, I charge more than a secretary normally earns per hour, which explains why I am able to pay my tuition without student loans and such.
I had a friend who actually DID provide all sorts of office related work freelance, and made damned good money doing it, so its not something that is BS. It actually is done, and can be done, so its not farfetched either. Its just that well, being an at home office worker is not nearly as fun as what I actually do for a living ![]()
...my answers are true and easy to have a discussion about.
Currently, I'm a Personal Assistant and Group Fitness Instructor in addition to adult entertainer.
I tell them that I take care of rubber(s), realign the steering and give a lube (if necessary).
Hugs,
Ciara
To my friends, lovers and closest relatives, I tell the truth.
To people I've just met, and don't yet trust, I say I'm a web designer.
To my sweet gran while she alive, I said I was a kept woman (she admired that greatly).

I am a free-lance writer. I do copywrite for online publications. A few times while traveling and waiting at airport bars I have said I am a writer. I write erotica!! That opens up conversations!!
Once when I was on an airplane the gentleman sitting next to me asked me what I do. I told him I was retired. I know I look young for 50 but what the heck! He then asked me what work did I retire from? I told him I was a Dentist!!
He then told me he was a Dentist!! Well he went on to ask me several more questions..where did I go to school? Where did I practice? Luckily I had worked in the Dental pfofession for 15 odd years and I could pull it off. He offered me a job!! He has a practice a few miles from where I live. You just never know!!

One lady I did business with confided to me that she told her family she was working for a cleaning company (Merry Maids, Servicemaster, etc.) cleaning offices and businesses after they close. This helped her explane working evenings.
