My own sense of feminine beauty tells me that, in general, the darker the complexion, the wider the range of features that will result in the appearance of beauty. Imagine, if you will, a collection of idealized female faces; say a Swede, a light-skinned Chinese, a Filipina, an American black of mixed heritage, and an African black of the darkest hue. All of these women are exceptionally beautiful within their own particular ethnic group, yet other than having a similar number of eyes, lips, etc, they do not look very much alike. Imagine further that we can keep the faces as they are and reassign the complexions. My sense is that a particular set of features is attractive with its natural complexion or any darker complexion, but becomes unnatural in appearance with a lighter complexion. I think our idealized young Swede would be stunning in Anthracite black, but our Masai maiden would be a real dud in peaches and cream. Or is it just me?
dark features (hair, eyes, brows, etc) are -- in my brunette-loving opinion -- far more attractive ... i think a beautiful face is like a beautiful painting: it must be 'framed' by dark-ish hair that accentuates the features and bone structure (gives it shape and form) especially for a light complexion (and vice versa for a dark one)
IMHO, caucasian blondes suffer a visual disadvantage in that their light-coloured hair effectively de-emphasizes their features ... they just "blend in" with the background: you don't know where the hair stops and the face starts (no demarcation)
when i walk into a room filled with attractive women i see right through the blondes as if they were invisible as my eyes invariably track and zoom in on the darkest brunette ... of course this is all rather subjective and personal -- it's related to developmental "imprinting' in one's formative years, especially from your female relatives, which in my case were ALL brunette
I have a book on doing makeup for the various contrast levels. They are numbered whether you're a 1,2,3, etc. The least attractive to me are those with low contrast whether it be male or female.
some of us are naturally blonde and we like it that way. I also think opposites attract and I'm very attracted to dark-haired men. But wow! When I see a good-looking blonde surfer, my heart stops.
