A question on condoms

For my 40th birthday, I treated myself to a vacation that included entertainment from an expensive upscale service outside the U.S. I was with three of the services' girls during my holiday, including one who became ill while spending time with me. I thought she was coming down with a cold or the flu.

About a week after my vacation, I start developing unusual flu-like symptoms and an unexplained sore. I go to my doctor and get tested. I caught herpes in spite of safe sex in an area not covered by the condom. I'm still in shock. The only bright spot was that I was still clean of all the other STDs.

Do you think I have any leverage with the service to get some sort of settlement or refund? All their girls are supposedly screened for STDs. Maybe they are and one slipped through the cracks or maybe another client infected one of the girls I was with (most likely the girl that was developing flu-like symptoms the last night I was with her).

Part of me wants to tell the world about the risks of this expensive, supposedly exclusive, legal brothel. Part of me wants to move on and concentrate on getting over this first herpes outbreak and get on with my life.

I've been dabbling in the hobby for about 15 years on and off and never caught an STD until now. Now it looks like I'm out of the hobby for good and not by my own choosing. Apparently there's always a chance of spreading the virus even between outbreaks and I don't intend on putting any other providers or hobbyists at risk.

What do you think? Is it worth getting an attourney to write a letter? Is there any chance of recouping any of the thousands of dollars I spent on this disasterous birthday present to myself?

"I caught herpes in spite of safe sex in an area not covered by the condom."

???????? Ok is it just me or my English ......but SAFE SEX means you were COVERED .
you say NOT COVERED ......so I am confussed . What was not covered and what was safe ??

If you chose to do anything unconvered .......well that is your problem . Stay safe , stay covered you can not get an STD .

...but I don't think you'll have much of a case. This is
the risk we all take, and sometimes we get bit.

From what I understand, this "valtrex" drug is very good,
and can prevent your outbreaks. A good friend of mine has
herpes simplex I, the "mouth sore" kind, and this "valtrex"
has worked wonders for him.

I wish you all the best.

I'm not an attorney, though we have plenty on the boards, but it doesn't seem as if you have a case, and I don't think it would cross internationally anyway.

If it makes you feel better, a letter from you, cc-ing your attorney, or from your attorney would at least cause them to look into it further, hopefully. I don't know what the equivalence to our Health Department is over there, but if you wanted to be veangeful, you could mention reporting them to that department.

There is no way to prove where that came from, nor any negligence on her/their part.
Where did I get Hepatitis from that took a year (more) out of my life? I'll never know.I listed that in my QFG book (Questions for God).

A number of people have touted this place (see link) for fabulous help with Herpes.

I wish I could be more helpful, but please give us an update.

Wow,that really sucks(no pun intended).

I would definitely seek legal counsel in the country that you vacationed in.

I wouldn't expose the service though until you see how they react. Since you were involved in a legal activity it seems that the service has some sort of liabilty. It all hinges on the legal system in the country you were in. If you were in a country that has its basis in the English system you have a good, but not guaranteed chance of collecting some damages.

Other nations may or may not allow an action of this type, and if it does, it may or may not be worth your while to persue something like this.

Your best bet is to consult an attorney in that country.

Good luck!

what would you say? I paid to have sex with someone. We used protection. She seemed to have the flu. Now I have herpes and I think it's her fault?

As far as negligence on their part, when they say they do "std" checks on the girls they don't test for herpes. If they did, about 80% of us would come up positive as the only way they could find active herpes is to scrape an open sore. If no lesions are present, they could do an antibody test but this includes both herpes 1 & 2 so it is virtually useless.

Thanks Sedona for posting this. I was the person who originally recommended this dr. and IMO there is none better. Hopefully the original poster is close by or able to visit him.

For example, he might have practiced safe sex, and worn a condom, but then this sore appeared on his inner thigh, or chest, or upper pubic area...

Thanks Sedona for your explanation . You said chest ..... I didn't know you can get a sore on your chest ? I thought just around mouth or pubic area . Did I miss something ??

BTW I was wondering if he really did practice safe sex for all ways , including oral .

The sore is to the left and slightly above the ol'Johnson. Unbroken skin. No cut or scratch or pimple. No exposed mucous membrane or anything. It was a first-time infection and my doctor could place the exposure at 5-7 days prior to my office visit which was right in the middle of my vacation at the brothel.

My only hope is that this place doesn't want a bad reputation and doesn't want it's name and the word herpes mentioned in the same breath. I know I can influence at least a couple people on another board that already have trips to this place planned and have made deposits.

I emailed the brothel owner my doctor's preliminary diagnosis and that I would be contacting an attourney to discuss my next action and decide whether I should contact the health/medical authorities in the country where they are located and whether I will publicly announce where and how I contracted herpes. I thought I might hear back from the owner. I haven't.

This may be a big waste of additional time and money. And frankly, I don't feel like dealing with it right now, but I feel I should do something.

Generally speaking you can't make a claim that has its original basis in unlawful activity.  However, there have been cases where a person's negligence has been used for recovery - we've all heard of the criminals who have sued after being bitten by a dog.  In tort law, if the negligent person controls the instrument of harm and knows or should have known that an injury may occur there may be liability.  Bottom line - unlikely recovery but if your party falls under US jurisdiction and you want to sue you'll probably find a lawyer willing to take your case.  And you'll also find yourself spread all over every newscast and newspaper in the country.

You said you would quit the hobby to protect others from catching it.  Another way to protect the community at large is to state where you contracted your bug to inform others who may consider going there.

By trying to contact the owners for financial restitution, it sounds as if you were looking to be paid to keep silent about the whereabouts.

What's it gonna be?

I can't lie. Part of me would like to get some or all of the money I spent back. The ongoing medical costs are going to add up over the years, even with my medical insurance. Especially if I end up on suppressive therapy and have to take anti-virals everyday.

Another part of me wants everyone to know where I got this incurrable STD and make everyone thinking about going there stop and go someplace else.

But, truth is, I don't know just how liable the brothel really is. The girl that infected me, may have had herpes when she came there to work and had an outbreak while I was with her. Or, some stupid guest with herpes knowingly or unknowingly gave it to one or more of the girls while he was there (maybe a week before my visit). All I know is that I didn't have it before I went there but I have it now, and I was only with the brothels' girls in the mean time.

I'll probably do the right thing and do it soon enough. I've just got a lot to work through dealing with this.

Herpes is SO contagious if there are active lesions, especially if it is the initial outbreak which brings the flu-like symptoms you mentioned. There was another thread on this a few weeks back where a poster mentioned someone got herpes on their hands from giving a handjob. Herpes can pop up anywhere, not just on mucus membranes.

IMO, pursuing this legally would be a tremendous waste of time, money and energy that would be better spent researching herpes treatments and trying to get past your shock and anger. It is hard enough to win a case against a girlfriend who gave you herpes, let alone a brothel in another country. As I understand this type of thing, you must prove 1) she has herpes, 2) she knew she had it when she saw you and 3) didn't take reasonable precautions to protect you.

If you are near Southern Ca, please check out the link Sedona gave you.

"I'll probably do the right thing and do it soon enough."

This is just not good enough.

You have the responsibility to name this place to protect
others.  Not sure how this should be done on the boards but
find out.  Perhaps you can post the country and the ask people
to email or PM you if they are thinking or already have been
to that country.  Find a way to get this done.

Also, you should notify the provider.  She may not know that
she has it.

One of the girls I was did covered oral on me and I did DATY using a dental dam. The one I suspect that infected me (and the third girl I was with) didn't do any oral covered or otherwise. We did DFK. She touched me. I touched her. I wore a condom. She rubbed against me and we multiple positions on two evenings. Before we went to sleep on the second evening, she complained that she was starting to feel sick. The next morning the lymph nodes along her jaw were a little swollen.

I have no way of contacting any of the three providers from the brothel directly.

I have notified the brothel of my initial diagnosis and asked the brothel owner to get the girls tested and contact any other guests that may have been exposed. I have not heard back from him.

Earlier they posted something on herpes, and one poster mentioned a friend who had herpes on her hand, and this I KNOW can happen.

I threw in 'chest' as an example because a friend of mine who's been in the sex industry for many years has had various things from just being with someone, holding them, and mentioned it was frequently on her chest (from hugging, etc.) and that's where we get sweaty together.

I have never used a dental dam (has anybody here used one?) and I do bbbj's..mmmm

I have no scientific basis for thinking this, but I have to assume that herpes is more readily transmitted between mucuous membranes and/or open areas of the skin, then between unbroken skin areas. (That's not to say that it can't be transmitted between unbroken skin areas.) Anonymousone says that the sore was in the pubic area, adjacent to his penis. So the provider's vagina, or at least her juices, may well have been in contact with the area where the sore developed. Add a little grinding and friction, resulting in a small imperceivable raw spot, and you have vagina secretions in contact with broken skin.  Whatever the case, does anyone know if there are condoms that cover not just the penis but a somewhat larger area as well?

Okay, another thing is he has "Herpes". He didn't say where, he didn't say what veriant. (and I'm not trying to pry here) Most all Viral infections of the skin are part of the "Herpies" Family. While a young marine I made my Battalion and Regimental Surgeons year I think. I came down with shingles, a variation of chicken pox, also known as Herpies Zoster. It usually affects only children or the Elderly, not Healthy and Active 22-23 year olds.

So, the question is what form of herpies and could he have contracted in through a more casual contact?

BTW- any sort of infection or rash like this throw ou the calomine lotion for itching releif and find yourself some tea tree oil or extract. Much better.

And we want you to have lots of fun on your vacations, but is it too much to ask that you be extra careful out there?

We know you travel to these exotic locations to get as much bang for the buck as you possibly can... but keep in mind you're not looking for GFE's... just sex.

Store it up and once you've returned, book your ATF for an intimate pampering session and tell her how much you missed her during your vacation but keep the juicy details too yourself!

Hugs!
Lily

My sister, then 50 and healthy, came down with Shingles last year and it can be quite serious! You can even go blind! She was in terrible pain as it's extremely painful!

How odd a young man got them. Makes you wonder..

Yeah, tea tree oil is good stuff.

Viking Exotic Resort in the Caribbean (cat69.com).

I can't say they knowingly allowed one of their providers to work with a STD (genital herpes).

I can't say that any of the three providers I was with knowingly infected me. My best guess is that another guest probably infected one of the girls I was with prior to my visit and she was in her initial highly infectious phase during my time with her and unknowingly infected me.

All I know is that I had never had an STD before my vacation and I had a clean bill of health. One week after I come back, I'm sick with the initial phase of a genital herpes infection...open running sore, fever and other flu-like symptoms. My doctor placed my exposure to the virus during the previous week (while I was at the Viking Villa). I hadn't been with any other partners (providers or otherwise) in more than five weeks prior to my trip.

The Viking Villa is not cheap. It offers a GFE experience with 24-hour companionship. It's supposed to be very exclusive and upscale. It's been featured on Playboy TV and in a host of men's magazines. You can even buy a video about what the Viking experience is all about from a variety of places, including Amazon.com. It' supposed to be safe and discreet and it's clientle is supposedly successful and responsible executives, professionals and the like.

It didn't live up to my expectations (it wasn't horrible but it wasn't the experience of a lifetime), and on top of it all, I caught herpes while I was there. And, I don't believe I'm the only one who has been exposed to the virus there. All three girls I was with are still listed as being available at the villa. And, I came back home on Thanksgiving. I emailed the owner last Wednesday and again last Friday. Maybe they just haven't updated their website. They have been booked solid with several special events. But, for all I know the infected girl(s) could still be working and putting other guests at risk.

Let the buyer beware. You may get less than you bargained for. Or, you might get more than you bargained for. I'm just glad I don't have to explain my herpes infection to a wife or steady girlfriend. And, I'm grateful it's not a life-threatening disease. But, I'll never be able to have sex or any intimate contact with anyone else from now one without putting them at some amount of risk. The virus can even be spread with skin to skin contact between outbreaks. I guess I'll have to find a girlfriend who's also got herpes. I don't want to put a provider at risk and I don't know if I'd want to be with a provider who willingly serves the herpes community.

If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have gone to Viking. I would have went to Montreal and snuggled with a lovely French Canadian girl in some nice cozy hotel room with a fireplace. Or, I would have gone to Nevada. Or, had a big name provider fly in to see me.

This wasn't the 40th birthday present I bargained for.
