Probably not the first time you meet.
If she's a regular and you're comfortable with each other it's not an issue. As long as the questions come off as curious and not judgmental or condescending.

i do not mind those type of questions
better than questions like "does your family knows you do this?"
I get that a lot...I don't mind...

In my case, I am genuinely interested in each provider as a person, and I find sex workers absolutely fascinating. That being said, I wait until I've seen a provider a few times and we have a comfort level. If you're interested in asking, and she's interested in sharing, your conversations will eventually head in that general direction. My ATF and I are real big on that.
If she is the type to open up and tell you her life story, then so be it.
If she keeps it very formal, then it's not going to happen.
Above all, don't be pushy, or she'll push you out the door
sometime I feel they they regret opening up that much.

Im very upfront and have ots of funny stories to tell from so many years in this industry,
Of course I would never give away personal information on anything to even hint at who is involved in the stories.. they are just general.
Like: "one time this guy asked for (insert funny stuff here)"
But I don't consider that a breach of confidentiality.
As long as the questions pertain to the industry and not about my family or personal details, I really don't mind,
go a long way to enable any conversation.
I suspect that if you start your questions with "No offense, but..." things will go less well. 
It is just as much how you ask as it is what you ask.
I personally, have no problem answering questions like that but you have to ask it, #1 in person and #2 appropriately...i.e
So Roxanne what was the craziest thing you ever did? vs. tell me play for play how many men you've been with and how he did this and that....

Thanks for all the responses. Most of the responses seem to be that it depends on the provider. I was curious but did not want to offend or make the provider feel uncomfortable. On my side my curiosity is just for sociological knowledge.
Thank you all. Guess when I do an encounter again I will feel the provider out. I would figure for some it may require a longer visit which I usually do. Or it may take a few visits to help with any unease they may feel.
You can ask anything, but know she is free not to answer or may lie.
I am seeing this lady now for a few months. About two months ago her P411 account is not active anymore. Her web page went off line a couple weeks later. I have seen her a couple times sense then. I do have appointment set up with her in a couple days.
Can I asked her why and if she is still seeing other guys beside me? I am sure that she has more guys then me wanting to see her. Just not sure if it would be a cool thing to talk about with her.
