....not once but twice!  He was a good 25 years older. I was at the first wedding and got to know his wife after she learned to speak English. They had a daughter, she became a nurse and after a few years she left him. I heard from mutual a friend that he was venturing to Ukraine yet again for a new wife. One day I ran into his ex and as we were catching up she said she couldn’t wait for her ex to bring home a Ukranian girl.... “She will be my baby sitter and I will teach her english”.

The divorce rate for homegrown American women is 50%. I'm not sure the odds are worse for mail order brides. Maybe marriage in general ought to be avoided.

I can get behind that.

How`s this for married life in the Ukraine. This is sad. I just finished my second date with an  awesome 28 yo Ukrainian provider earlier today. During the two dates she informed that she has a 6 yo son over there. She goes back and forth every 3 mos. so all ok with that. I asked her today where is the boys father and does he see the boy regularly? Said he lives not too far away and never has made any contact or attempt with his son since he deserted them  4 yrs ago. I then asked if  he pays child support and she replied never! Said that there is no law or authority  there to make him pay. He has since moved in and has kids with a new woman who forbids him to make contact with the boy.  

When she was married all he did when not working was drink vodka and play games on his pc. She has a college degree in economics on top of her looks and delightful demeanor.
She then stated that 50% of all marriages there fail. Gee, really.
 After hearing all this my respect an admiration for her went through the roof. Trust me, this doll will make it in life while carrying her son  on her back.  
The two dates with her were as good as it gets but the ride home today was bittersweet considering her story. After reading previous today`s Ukrainian posts I felt compelled to share this different spin.

I actually know an older retired guy (not well) who marries young Latinas, brings them to the US, puts them in school to learn English, and helps them in other ways. Then they divorce, amicably, after 2-3 years. I think he is currently on number 3.

I kind of doubt that he is using an agency. I get the feeling that he knows the territory (like GaG) and just goes for it.

The government made it a lot more difficult to bring in more than two mail order brides.  Plus when you bring one in you indemnify the gov for any social welfare costs for the life of your ex, should you get divorced.  It's very costly to marry out of your league because after she gets her green card after two years, she's here as long as she wants...on your dime.

C'mon....these guys have to know they're not gonna get true love. Lol.
A 20 something Russian beauty falls for a middle aged dope? Only in Disney films. And if the dope has a little money.... she'll catch some of that green along with the card....as she's heading out the door for her new found life. Because if he's foolish enough to believe she " married for love", then he couldn't possibly need a prenup.
I like it how it is....a new bride to honeymoon with anytime the need arises.
