I grabbed a picture of Kate Beckinsale from Google, and then did some some fast filter work, and one custom brush with a style applied, to give a very limited range of what in theory could be used.  The color differences in some of them could be much better if the "Photoshopist" (if that's not a word it should be...maybe I just coined that...) took more time than I did on these.

I realize that for many women this is a necessary evil, but I'm thinking that in the age of photoshop there must be a better way to protect identity.  Or perhaps a mask?  Airbrushed or real?  

Maybe it's because women don't want to be accused of retouching so the facial blurring is made frightingly obvious, but it detracts from the whole rest of the picture.  It simply looks tasteless.  I know of one where on top of a beautiful body the head looks like a nub.  It's so mutilating I could hardly look at it.  Horror movie, anyone?  I can't advise that she  see guys who get turned on by that picture.  

I've seen more effective ways of keeping facial identity hid.  I hope the blurry face goes out of style.

I'd rather see some blurring than have the head cut off. I hesitate to see a lady if I have no idea of the face might look like.

When blurring, I don't like to put a blotch on the face; like you said, it looks so mutilating. I like to blur the edges of the photos where the blur creeps up to the face. It looks more natural and we can make out some facail features. The disadvantage is the it blurs the hair as well, but other photos with the face turned away would include hair.

it counteracts the blurring and you can see her face as clear as day. Works on the same principle as the Dolby.

It's a means for providers to show you what they look like without jeopardizing their real life. Why some of the ads that use fake pics feel the need to blur is beyond me, except maybe they're keeping up the deception.

What really ticks me off is that many providers don't use their real names or provide their home addresses and telephone numbers. What's with that? [heavy sarcarm]

I've seen a couple of escort photos with masks and it looked very silly.  It may be possible to use them and look OK but I've not seen it.

I agree some blurring is very badly done and looks awful.  What I don't understand is the point of blurring which is so light that anybody who knew the lady would be bound to recognise her anyway.

the photographer uses a combination of lighting, hair and pose to conceal the facial features in a very artistic way.

Good point. I recently have tried to blur enough to where I am not recognizable, but in viewing my site you have an idea of my facial features.

Also, I have seen alot of ladies blur more around the eyes an leave the lower have of the face slightly more clear.

I guess the men will just have to get over the fact that my face is blurred. I don't think it looks bad and it protects me therefore so be it.

Besides, no matter what type of photos you have, there will always be someone saying something negative. Get over it!

You also have one where you're face is darkened-- Very haunting.  That was the one I remembered.    

I said it's a necessary evil.  Unless this the profession becomes decriminalized and honored.  I didn't see myself as complaining, but wondering what alternatives people may think of, or how it can be done tastefully.  

All told, darling, the pictures make me want to see you again.  That's what's important.  The pictures shouldn't ruin your life, and ideally they should make the clients want to see your face.  I think you've succeeded and with negligible blurring.  

   

I just wondered if with photoshop another type of alteration might exist.  I realize there could be ethical problems with that... but it can inspire some very imaginative solutions.

I would say the answer is "no".
I can like people that don't like me, I can care for people that will never return it, and I can love people without it being reciprocated.

The time spent with a lady doesn't have to be about "loving" them, but it can be about far more than simply getting off.

Actually, I think ambient darkening along with some blurring effects like you have above could be a good effect.  That, or perhaps some hair falling across the face, with darkening.  Humorously, I wondered if one could "anime" the face.  Make it look like a Japanese anime.  Probably it's too  jarring to work, though.

However, providers should choose wisely:
Gausian Blur and Lens Flare can be undone mathematically.
So too with Diffuse Glow, to a lesser extent.
Pixelate is not reversable, but the human eye is supurb at filling in the blanks...
Don't know about the others.
