RIP Cool Hand Luke.  He made some good Balsamic Vinegar Salad Dressing too.

A great actor, a fine American, a good businessman, and a better than average sports car driver.

over 2oo million for charities and I also believe had the honor of being on Tricky Dick Nixon's enemies list. A proud honor for an American to make that list! May he rest in peace and pass on to a higher realm of existence.  It seems like he deserves it.

I googled Paul to make sure he made President Nixon's enemies list and sure enough he was number 19 and  apparently stated he considered that one of his greates achievements in life. A wise man and a great humanitarian!

Ok more research and I'll let this go. Get this made the enemies list of President Nixon because he supported Eugene McCarty for president in 1968 and was quoted as saying "the highest single honor I've ever received"

He was living in New England, and I found him so very attractive, kind, intelligent, good-natured, and positive. I know he had a partner he was loyal to, but I always had a huge crush on him. Im so very sad I never had a chance to meet him. Even to walk thru his veggie garden and talk about life, wouldve made me so extremely happy. Everything about this man was peaceful and kind and he was so very ineteresting!
Beautiful man, with your good soul, you were loved by many, and were an example to all, of how to live a full and meaningful life. You have left behind a meaningful legacy and so many children are feeling happy and better cause of you. What a wonderful human to have blessed our earth. We are lesser because of his passing.

We need more like him.

Didn't want to donate to liberal charites.

He always seemed ageless to me so this is a shock and a reminder that none of us is --finally-- excused.  A charming and decent man.

and delivered with impecable irony by the late and great Strother Martin.

I sometimes deliver the line myself to subordinates at work when some situation has gotten so screwed up that it defies explanation.  (This only happens three to four time a day, by the way.)

It seems to cut the tension and get people relaxed before I clock them with a two by four.

Met him at the car races, back when he used to drive. He was a down to earth guy who just wanted to be treated like everyone else. He didn't want groupies or people clamoring for autographs. But he was happy to talk racing and relate as one of the guys.

Great guy, great philanthropist.

Yes, pasta is one of the few things I make and I always buy Newmans pasta sauce because all the profits go to charity. I've never tried his  Balsamic Vinegar so I will definitely have to check it out.

First, he kept a pretty low profile - and put his money where his mouth was.

Second, he always gave back - whether it was helping young up and comers or community projects, the man always gave back.  (Redford, Cruise only two to have benefited from his advice. he also started a drug rehab program in response to his son dying of a drug overdose.)

Third, while I did not always agree with his political position, I never had the feeling that he disrespected ME for mine.  That is unlike many today who offer nothing but disrespect....

Fourth, says something about a man who was married to the same woman for 50 years (J Woodward, his second marriage).  It also say something about a man privaledged to be on Nixon's Enemies' list!  That is to be admired - means he was doing something correct.

Fifth, he served his country admirably during WWII.  Most of today's hollywood crop - would not even be able to make it through basic training.... and sadly their lives are without any discipline... and they are only a few breaths away from an OD or worse... a violent death.

Sixth, most of what he did for others was done quietly from his home in Westport.

Seventh, he had the grace to retire - while still respected - and on top of the game...

A man much to be admired.  And I do.

Mix two tablespoons of Newman's Italian dressing to one large teaspoon of hoison sauce.

Coat ribs, chicken and just about anything with it and then grill or bake even.

It's the best.

Sounds like that would be mighty tasty on fresh game.  Like moose, for instances.

I bet deep down you are a tofu kind of guy.

pan fried with sprouts, some broccoli florets and some soy sauce it makes a nice meal.

But in all honesty, most of what I eat had parents I'm afraid.

2 of the coolest dudes I've ever seen on the big screen thanks to Mr. Newman.

His balsamic Vinegar salad dressing is indeed my favorite & highly recommended by my nutritionist.

I enjoyed all his movies..hustler, cool hand luke, the verdict, exodus,nobody's fool, etc..but the one I so enjoyed & continue to relive is a movie he made called Hombre..Anyone seen this one?

Interesting how he started a hugely successful business from the ground, and then gave all the profits to charity while the avarice addled CEOs and Wall Street players have put the entire economy in peril with their self serving theology of greed.

He wasn't just an American patriot; but a patriot of mankind.

 God speed.

But then, I've seen a lot of movies. I will miss him.
