Most everything written by "so called experts" on the hobby is complete rubbish. Not so with this article, who knows maybe the prostitution will be able to stand the light of day, in another three or four hundred years. lol
Seriously speaking, this article is a huge step in the right direction, coming from a major newspaper.
It seems to be a very truthful article. Few women in the business are exploited anymore. Most choose this for financial gain. It's time we reform our laws and make sex transactions between consenting adults legal.
but I am troubled by a somewhat patronizing tone, especially the part about how gals moving inside makes it harder for the nice policemen (?) to get them saved.
How many gals on here found nice policemen (other than policemen who are clients.)?
And gals are safer out on the street? Just doesn't ring that true to me.
Also, are there that many hookups that have no sex? I love a good conversation myself but good God, I have nuts that need emptying now and then.
Looking at my own situation (at least lately) 50%+ are no sex meetings. Thankfully, they are also no money meetings either, unless buying lunch counts. Actually, the latest was just last week and the lady even bought the meal. I'm such a whore, lol.
Just in case you don't know, Sudhir is a guy and he says, "I've been studying high-end sex workers (by which I mean those who earn more than $250 per "session") in New York, Chicago and Paris for more than a decade, and one of my most startling findings is that many men pay women to not have sex."
Maybe by "studying" he means "hobbying" and maybe by "many men" he means "many [of his own] encounters"? I wonder if he has a TER handle and any reviews? I wonder who funds his research? Taxpayers?
Although, I have to admit that there ARE times when I just want to enjoy someone's company with some face time or 1st base, maybe 2nd or 3rd but not necessarily a home run. Unfortunately, I know from past experience that the minute I leave and I hear the lock click that I'll be kicking myself for not going all the way and still feeling, uh, unfulfilled.
I love that many of the points emphatically state that not all ladies are drug addicts/formerly abused/batshit/etc. and that many enter the business without coercion.
But the "helpful" police and 20%? I don't know who was blowing smoke up his chimney to get that data. I also like conversation and dinner (a lot), but, dang, a girl's got NEEDS.
maybe I am not going with spitzer's "HDH"'s but the ones I see, generally have something wrong that has pushed them here. Sure quick money helps, but the drugs/alcohol or mistreatment of some sort help get them to the thesehold and ultimately to enter this world. Sorry dudes and dudettes but most are not part time CEO's living a fantasy once per week.
The most common "something wrong" I have found is getting pregnant too young and having the father split while providing no support. Our society is set up to hinder a young lady who makes such an error, not help her. This is one of the businesses that gives the best chance for a non-college degreed lady to make reasonable money and still adjust her schedule to take care of her children.
I see drugs and alcohol more often a bye product of staying in the business after they wish to leave but feel they can not afford to.
