$217 a month was the average for 2017. I know that's nothing for heavy hitters. EOM

END OF MESSAGE

Just curious what people spend each month on this hobby?

It doesn't always work out that way of course. lol

Trying to control my budget I'll attempt to limit myself to 1 or 2 one hour sessions a month.  I kind of blew through that in the addicting sugar bowl, but not that I got kicked off the site I'll try to bring down spending again.

I spend whatever is left over after bills, medical insurance, retirement fund and donations.

I consider it a basic living expense...

I am NOT a "hobbyist."  Lamest word ever.  I'm a whoremonger and a rutting pig.

Seen one girl too many if my electricity gets turned off and I'm sitting there watching TV in the dark.

If I did not I would overspend on the hobby. I put the max 401K contribution ($18,500/year) plus the $5000/year catch up.

I fund the hobby by trading stocks (swing trading mostly, and some day trading). If I have no capital gains, mutual fund distributions, and or dividends in my taxable accounts no hobbying that month. I spend between $200 to $800/month.

I want to thank the board for encouraging me to get some stock trading training. 2017 was a very good year in my trading accounts.

Depends on what I can skim from my household budget without the spouse noticing.  Kinda limits the provider end to once a month but keeps me in SB's every week.

...and too much. However, I do enjoy the experiences and that's the most important part.
