and because sometimes there are things in there and inquiring minds want to know, you know.

see the new posts and if they find a new post interesting, they will click on it to get to the OP. eom

There are many reasons to click on eom posts.  
1) It turns the post red, so when you come back yo the thread later you know which posts are new at a glance.
2) Some posters hide things in eom messages. Scoed used to be famous for putting some nice pictures in his eom messages. CPA sometimes does the same thing. Others put messages in there.
3) you might want to click to see if the poster has reviews, or to check out a provider's profile, if it's a provider posting, or you might want to send a PM to a poster.
4) to irritate the people who wonder why others click on eom messages.
