The budget surplus under Clinton came at the expense of military spending.  Clinton grossly cut the military's budget and therefore exposed us to the whims of terrorists.  Perhaps the pornstars understand that not only do Republicans support their livelihood of business, but Republicans also know how to defend our great country.

Yeah, the religious fanatics have hijacked the Republican Party, at least its public face. The problem is neither party really wants to lower taxes and reduce the burden of government, because that would reduce their power.

I agree with the thrust of the comments, though. Porn stars make money and the Dems programs involve taking that money and giving it to someone else.

What you say was true years ago, but is NOT true anymore. I was a card carrying Republican from the day I turned 18, but left the party in downright disgust three years ago.

Look at where the religious freaks have taken the Republican party today...

* Bush appoints a fruit loop, Dr. David Hager, to head the FDA's board of Reproductive Health Drug Advisory Committee. This committee evaluates and makes recommendations regarding medications used in obstetrics, gynecologies, and other related fields. This man has authored two books advocating that women should turn to prayer for cures from premenstrual syndrome. He has also denied prescribing birth control to unmarried women in his private practice, and has vehemently opposed the "morning after pill" that can act as an early abortificient. Yeah, GREAT guy to have running a committee who's sole fucntion is to evaluate and determine what drugs will be approved by the FDA for women's health.

* Bush just vetoed a bill that would have provided funding for embryonic stem cell researh, but clearly has NO idea what the hell he's talking about. Like a bunch of scientists are going to be roaming the streets of America, kidnapping unsuspecting pregnant women in order to conduct their research. Oh wait! I know, if we allow stem cell research, scores of women across the country will deliberately get pregnant JUST so they can have an abortion so that they can then give the material to science for stem cell research. Yup, that is exactly what might happen.

* How about gay marriage? GOD forbid two men or two women should have the same right to misery that their heterosexual counterparts automatically enjoy. Not one single valid reason for denying same sex marriage exists - except religious objections. This has become the bread and butter rallying cry of Republicans these days. Its the new abortion issue. Notice at the beginning of the month, another marriage amendment came out of nowhere from a Congress that can't its nose above a 30% approval rating? This and flag burning make up their "hail mary" attempt at getting the faithful sheep to tow the line in November. The truly astounding part is that it will actually WORK.

Good Gawd, I could go on and on. The Republican Party has in fact descended into a breed only a micro-notch above snake handlers and holy rollers. Their so-called agenda now reads like the program for Bubba Joe Billy Bob's Tent Revival and Fish Fry. It shamed me to be even loosly associated with them, so I decided it was time to leave.

Less government? Are you nuts? Beaurocracy in the Federal government has BALOONED in the past 5 years by nearly 20%. Fiscally responsible?? Not even a little bit. "Bridge to Nowehere" anyone? A Senator throws a tantrum on the Senate floor, actually threatening to resign if the money promised for a useless bridge is taken away from him (like this would be bad), so they compromise and just GIVE Alaska the money, without actually designating it for a useless bridge that no one needs. And people wonder why we went from a nice budget surplus to the largest deficit in our history.

Frankly, since I thought of the question, one answer came to me: because it gets the most attention.  If they come out democrat, people just think: "Well, of course!"  Republican makes it into a man-bite-dog story.
