I was wondering has anyone used any website to conceal the IP addresses of their computer. I was curious as to what levels of secrecy/protection do most hobbyists and providers use. Other than the normal wiping of history and clearing the cookies from the computer.

Any and all thoughts are appreciated

It's free. It can be rather slow sometimes, but it works.

I don't log in here without it.

Not often but when afraid for my safety: http://hidemyass.com/ It's free and it works. Unless you intend to do something sooooo bad like kiddy porn or terrorism you will be fine.

If you use Firefox make sure to get the Tor Button add on, it's all fairly simple to set up and use.

This site requires adobe flash and java script to run all it's features properly, and since you're logging on through a different server, that is why it may not work.

Try www.publicproxyservers.com They will not all work for this site but many will. Just keep trying until you find one.

I tried to use one and couldn't browse around TER without having to type in what I wanted exactly. I couldn't get to the local discussion boards or view any new reviews because none of the drop downs worked. Does anyone have that issue?

Absolutely yes. Not all proxy servers pass the same kinds of traffic. With some, the drop downs don't work. With some, hot links don't work or get misdirected. Many block flash (well, that's a good thing).

TER programmers need to write good code to accommodate so many users who use proxies, mobile devices or other filters as the lowest common denominator but they seem to think they're programming for Disney or Pepsi or some other PG-rated service.
