During a FBSM, I inquired about extras. The provider said "full service is $400" and she told me I could pay her at the end of the session. I agreed and we had at it.

Before leaving, I put 2 Benjamins on the dresser, having already paid $200 when I first arrived. She counted it and told me I was $200 short. I said that wasn't the deal.

Long story short, she agreed to accept what I had paid. The disagreement, however, cast a pall over what had otherwise been an enjoyable experience.

I believe I was in the right, but I am not 100% sure and would like to know whether or not others see it the same way as I do.

if you paid 2 bills up front, and in the middle of the session asked how much for a b c x y z more, and she said 4 bills,
it was up to you to ask "do you mean 2 more bills on top of what i just paid, or 4 more bills on top of what i just paid?"

wake up and smell the coffee! (sorry just channeling dear abby there)

If I had paid $200 and was upsold for an additional $400 I would have laughed in her face. It sounds like she took a shot at getting $600 from you, but thought better of it and settled for a very fair $400. I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep over it, nor would I ever even consider booking her again.

LOL $600 for full service? OK if it was Vegas maybe ... BTW if you don't review that you don't have a hair on your ass.

If you had nearly an hr massage and than upgraded and that was another full hr I could see it. Ultimately if she didn't clarify or get the extra upfront it's hard not to place some of the blame on her.
Either way it would sour the experience for both of you.

you didn't ask one simple question ... Is that 400 total or extra ...

I think you knew but are acting inmocent. I can be wrong, but
I don't think so ... bet that never happens again.

Go directly to jail, do not pass go .... btw, I wouldn't have paid 600, but would have left after the massage.

$600 is 90 minutes with an amazingly skilled courtesan, not just a hot masseuse ... at least that my experience here in the Bean.

The moment he left that door open by just paying half the tribute and not explaining what he wanted. He left it to her discretion to charge him whatever she deemed appropriate based on what they did. I'm not saying she didn't upcharge him which I hate myself, but this is partially on him.

I once had a double with another provider and witnessed the upselling first hand. Omg what a boner killer that was. And I mean that literally 😜

$600/hr is pretty average for a NYC escort. I'd consider it upper-to-mid- range. Upscale... quality... but not extremely high-end.

$200 is pretty cheap, even for a massage. For that price, I'd personally assume that there would be an upcharge (unless there was some drawback in her attractiveness or level of service). Even for a BP bodyrub provider.

Plus, I feel like massage providers generally charge more for full service. Maybe because it's out of their normal range of activities, and considered a special request...

If the massage provider is decent-looking and provides good service, $400/full service is TGTBT in NYC. IMO.

If she said "full service is $400" , my understanding is  $400 in total.  If she wants $600 in total, she should say $400 extra instead of full service is $400.  I totally disagree with BigPeterJohnson.  I agree with GoGambler and would never consider booking her again.

that when you ask about extras during what was planned only to be a rub and tug, the price quoted is extra, not the total including what you already paid.

That said, her charge is on the high side unless this was Vegas or NYC.  My guess is that she threw out $400 thinking the OP would come back with $200 and they'd settle on $300.  She probably caved at the end because first, she probably felt like an idiot not clarifying beforehand; second, she would have probably been OK with the $200 if he stuck to his guns; and third, she lost all bargaining power at that point since she didn't get the money up front (Which is always how I've had to play the game.) and didn't want to alienate him lest she lose future business.  She might also just be averse to confrontation.

In other words, there's plenty of blame to go around here.

Next case

I appreciate all of the feedback.  To clarify a few points raised in the comments:

1) I am in NYC.
2) The session lasted only one hour.
3) I did not seek clarification because, in my mind, there was no question about the amount of the charge.
4) Although she folded pretty quickly, I do not believe this is proof she was trying to rip me off.
5) From now on, I will distinguish between "extra" and "total."

While there are not a plethora of girls in the $400 range in NYC, there are quite a few that have excellent reps/reviews at that price point.

i'm not saying she didn't up charge him either.  i'm not saying she wasn't completely a greedy sneaky ### for upcharging.

i'm saying the op left the door wide open for the upcharge by not establishing at the time of discussion exactly how much and for what, esp. in light of having paid money already.

how hard would it have been to say "you mean $400 altogether, so i paid you $200 already so another $200, right?"

he didn't, she up charged him, it's on him.

tho again, no harm no foul, he didn't pay the extra, so no big deal, except it pissed him off enough to write a post about it.

There are some quality providers for $400. Less than there used to be, but they're definitely out there.

I worked for $350-400 when I was with an agency. So I agree that quality can be found at that price point. (However, that was back in 2008-2009 when the average going rate was quite a bit lower due to economic circumstances)

This girl was a massage provider whose full-service rates were unknown. In my experience, attractive, quality massage providers usually won't do full service for a measly $200 extra, especially if they're charging a low-ish entry rate. It's usually a pretty steep upcharge. Maybe there are exceptions out there, and maybe you know of some. To me, that would seem off.... unless, the girl is just not able to price herself higher for some reason. Or, is inexperienced or desperate... We don't have enough info to deduce whether that is the case or not.

He paid the "complete" donation for a FBSM session. The "upsell" seems to have mutual, call it a "paid upgrade" rather than an upsell. I don't see any thieves or scammers in this situation, I see an honest miscommunication, her not pushing the issue speaks volumes in that regards. Can you blame a guy for assuming FS would be twice her FBSM rate? It seems like a pretty easy assumption to make.

I can see how she would have thought that she was clear in saying that it was $400 for that particular service (aside from the original fee), but I can also see how you could have easily thought that she meant $400 for a FS date. No one is really at fault here. I doubt she was trying to scam you and I doubt you were playing dumb. Just a mixup. It happens.

Nope you're in the WRONG here. If she had wanted $600 for the whole shebang she should have answered the OP's inquiry with "FS is $400 MORE".

The word MORE makes all the difference.

I agree with GA that she might have gambled hoping the OP would be naive/timid enough to pay her $400 more.  Most anybody would agree that $600 is totally outrageous
