A common theme around ratings obsession came up in the thread below. That wasn't the point of the thread, so I'm starting a new one around this topic.

It does seem like there's an obsession around ratings. You see if tons of ads "I'm the TOP rated provider" "In the TOP 10!!" "TOP in the world!". but then you see ISO posts w/ "ISO of a 10." on the DC board, a poster quoted the following price structure. so does the obsession come from the ladies or the gentlemen? chicken and the egg.

If the rate structure is true and how the men approach pricing, then it would reason that they create the pressure and obsession. What do you think?

how to stop the cycle?

I'm a man of numbers and here is what the "averages" are per/hr as related to the average rating score:
 10 = $500
  9 = $375
  8 = $275
  7 = $200
  6.5 = $175
  6 = $150

Those appear to be fairly constant - as we all now ratings below a "5" - well then your desperate.
Adjust for less or more time by a 40% up or down factor.
I'm not at all certain what distinguishes a $500 experience from a $1,000 hourly tryst.
Let me know if you do.

but who has written the reviews matters a lot more. When reading the reviews I look at the person's entire body of reviews. If all he has given is 10/10s, I will skip over to next guy...

That's why I will not approach the ratings and scores in such a cut and dry fashion. Sometimes there is no difference between 8-9-10.  I have personally, never given 10/10. That perfect "fuck meet" has not happened yet.

Personally, I feel that TER needs to do away with the rating system and follow a much simpler system to stop the obsession...

Something like follows with an overarching understanding of YMMV.

1. Rip off
2. Not recommended
3. Recommended with reservations
4. Highly recommended.

Of course the exact verbiage can be tweaked, but you get the idea...

in fact quite the contrary. I think its good marketing. It would be silly NOT to use it. But I do agree many obsess over the ratings system. With some, its financial reasons, others its vanity.  "Men" cant create obsession. Thats happens internally with the women. Obsession is an unhealthy fixation on something. Pressure is what anyone who runs a "business" faces from its clients. So yes in that sense, men (i.e. the client) create pressure but its the women's job to put that pressure in it proper context and not let it rule her life. The ratings system isnt perfect. My biggest issue is going from a 7 to a 10. I think if a woman kisses, allows daty, bbbj and obviously cfs, she should be eligible to recieve a 10. I like the 0-10 scale otherwise. I have found there is a difference between a 9.2 and 8.5 generally, provided there are dozens of reviews for comparison. I am kinda amazed that the guys seem to get it right, at least for me, 90% of the time. Great question Wonders!

Your 600 is for 2 hours...and sometimes a dinner as well.

The obsession over rates and scores is a main reason I stopped reviewing.

It's a farce on here with that shit...as was evidenced by the prior thread.

Ladies are obsessed with ratings because they like being listed in the top 10 and it helps drive business.  Ladies have also been known to refuse to give refs for clients who give out anything less than a 9 in their reviews.  Ladies are also very effective in getting poor reviews removed - TER requires you to hand over email records confirming that a session happened if a provider disputes your review.  Also, ladies have gotten wise to the game.  Ladies are more likely to get a 10 if they have an expansive menu listed in their profiles (NQNS, rimming, Greek, BLS etc.) even if they don't provide those services to each client.  For every lady, you're seeing inflated ratings...in some cases vastly inflated.

Hobbyists use ratings as their primary criteria regarding whether to see someone.  They're an easy evaluation tool especially given the myriad choices (lots of variety on race, age, body type, menu, breast type) and reviewer biases (some guys find BBW attractive, others don't for example).  No 2 ladies or reviewers are the same.  But you have to find a way to compare ladies and ratings are a great starting point for that.  At the end of the day you do get laid regardless of who you see.  For many clients, who are busy with other things in life, that's enough.

From my experience, providers who've gotten a fair amount of 10/10s have provided an acceptable baseline level of service.  They're typically hot enough and provide enough GFE service to cause me to leave with a smile on my face.  Beyond that it's chemistry.  The ones I have chemistry with are my ATFs.  Ladies with lots of 6s, 7s and 8s are Russian roulette.  There's usually something off with them (menu, professionalism, looks, etc.) and their ratings reflect that.

From an information perspective, TER is very efficient. Diamonds in the rough don't stay hidden for long.  After awhile, these gems get so many great reviews that everyone begins to take notice and book with them.  Ladies respond to the increased demand by increasing their rates.

This is not the activity for deal seeking.

Regardless, it is a MINIMUM rate either way you slice it.  I don't charge by the hour period, but the friends I spoke of do, and 450 is the lowest.

There is a difference in being "obsessed" and using your stats to market yourself too. Using your placement is no different than saying you're hot, young, toned, or educated. We all do some form of marketing that is supposed to set us apart from the next girl.

Anyone saying they don't, is full of shit. If a girl is "all natural" she often says so, and puts down those who have implants. If a girl is a BBW, she will often say something along the lines of, "Sorry, but if you want a Barbie doll or skin and bones," keep looking. I am not saying all women who highlight their assets put down others, but many certainly do. Hell, I am guilty of it when it comes to some moron claiming to be so damned smart, when she can't even string two complete thoughts together.

lacking in service than one with a 7 overall..that just makes no sense. ALL the damn reviews can't be fake lol. Now, another issue is the overall rating compared to the NUMBER of reviews. Anyone can have over a 9 average is she only has one or two pages of reviews, but what is she has 100 reviews and still has that rating? I would always pick the more consistent provider than the one who has yet to prove she has staying power so to speak.

It is so much more to do with consistency vs. average, which is why I think they should just toss the overall thing out. Keep the Top 100, but don't rate some woman with 5 reviews higher than a chick with 50. That makes zero sense to me. I think you should have to get maybe 20 damn reviews to even get an average, not 5. Some women can get 5 in a damn day lol.

5 great reviews, and new to the biz, i find is sometimes a great find for they arent jaded at all. They love the new found attention, some actually blush when you tell them how pretty they are, show up early, more open to clothing requests, have larger menu options, etc. Yes, I am generalizing. But I have found it to be true many times.

The numerical rating system is completely subjective.  What I desire may not be the same as what someone else finds desirable.  Everyone has that dream lady and any encounter close to their ideal female will get higher marks than a really good provider of different demographics.

I put very little value in the difference between an 8, 9, or 10.   If I see a 3, 4, or 5 I will compare it to the rest of the reviews and see if it was the ladies issue or the reviewers.  the real value in the review is the text.

With all that being said I would also like to add that tying a rating to a price doesn't work because the price will change with the geographic location.  Higher cost of living places are going to have higher priced providers.

But I think that you have to take the score in the context of the review (the experience they had and the service) and the reviewer. Some people rate high, rate low, or were pleased or dissatisfied by something that you don't care about. The score is just a starting point and frankly if I'm interested in someone I read most of the recent reviews to get a sense of if the lady is a good match for me. Really low numbers are obviously not good but I agree with others that the differences between 8-10 is very dependent on who the reviewer is so I don't pay a lot of attention to it.

I think some ladies are ratings crazy but some guys are too. Most experienced hobbiests take it with a grain of salt but some are too focused on the score. When I was new to TER I was more ratings focused until I learned better. I think keeping the scoring is probably best but adding Curly's reccomended or not boxes would be great.

Just my two cents.

Damn, I just used "is" for "If" twice in that last post lol. Don't misunderstand what I am saying. I am not saying new women with only few reviews are not as good as those with a ton. What I am saying is, you don't know how long she can or will keep that up. Providers change over years in this business. We gain or lose weight, have children, get a new job, a BF, pick up a drug habit, get lazy, jaded, or suffer a great loss...any number of those factors can contribute to our reviews going to shit. Anyone who is serious about making money can be good for a year...try it for 5 or even 10, and see if she still gets consistent good reviews. That is my only point. Women who have PROVEN consistent service for YEARS should not be ranked with someone who has been at it a damn week. It's retarded.

If you ever want to do a little experiment, go look at the two so called reputable review boards and see how many "yes" reviews there are. Search that same lady on TER, and you can bet your ass, she barely rates an 8 here. What does that say? Guys on TER are not as easily impressed as others seem to be, which is why this board is considered the most credible.

I happen to like the system here...not always the numbers, but the system within itself. I much prefer the review either stand or get pulled, but all those stupid comments from the peanut gallery on other sites, is absurd. No one gives a crap if a guy "Would never pay that much for a 40 year old." The reviewer did, enjoyed her, and that's a rap!

They have no bearing on whether I will see a girl.

In fact, I am less likely to see a girl who is full of 10/10 reviews, because she is more likely to be obsessed with getting a certain score or a review.

Counterintuitive, if you think about it.

I repeatedly see guys commenting on ads to say "remember guys, she's #7 so she's definitely the best"-

Its just like really?  REALLY?
Do you really think that of all the providers let alone women in particular city this one's look, passion, sex game, hostessing skill etc.  is EXACTLY NUMBER SEVEN!!!!?
Lol! Its hysterical.

You can't quantify a human being or experience.

I think trends definitely demonstrate excellence in beauty, performance, or both.  But again, there is a unnatural preoccupation with categorizing providers (or perhaps its completely natural because its only human to try to rank and label things as good, better, best).

I had a man visiting from D.C. contact me this weekend for an appointment.  He screened cleanly through a popular agency reference. We spent the afternoon chatting about his appointment and he repeatedly mentioned my reviews and whether or not I was truly deserving of them asking questions like "which percentage of your clientele is old vs. young" etc. I became uncomfortable with the line of conversation when he claimed to be a well-known DC reviewer I've met and I declined the appointment. He became extremely verbally abusive telling me that I was overrated by "old men"and not deserving of my scores and that he'd wanted to see me so that I could "prove [myself] to be deserving".    It was completely surreal TER-obsessiveness to the nth degree. He later went on to apologize profusely saying that he was having a bad day and took it out on me- but here is the real problem:
Why does the number-crunching have to enter into an exchange between a man and a woman planning to fuck?  Look at the picture, look at the review, book the appointment or don't.  Why this "well according to my calculation you are exactly a 7.888 / 8.923 and you are deserving of my time and money"?  Its absurd.

These encounters are supposed to be about fun- but you have a very clear obsession with ranking and categorizing and quantifying.
So many providers are affected by their own hype that our expectations and perceptions of our offerings relative to others are skewed and so many clients are obsessed with this system of reviewing that the way you write and consider the numbers is skewed.
It takes a lot of the fun out it and adds unnecessary stresses IMO.

A redundant top 5'er would only get/allow the six review minimum requirement for Mathesar's yearly top 100 report so that the chance for lesser scores was contained and better benefiting her aggregate.
Providers with a dozen or more reviews were at an immediate disadvantage.

 There are many agendas; innocent as well as venal to raise scores as well as lower them. And that's the core problem with "scores"!

Yep, and the chart in the OP proves that. If guys were not so obsessed with scores, neither would the women be. It's just like women being obsessed with breast size...we did not just wake up one day and feel inferior because of OUR thoughts. It is because guys and the media lied to us and said bigger is better, and many of us bought that shit!

Disagree. If I am hiring a plastic surgeon for a critical part of my body, or an Attorney to avoid life in prison, and I have to pick between one in business for six months or one in business for 5 years, both with good service, I am going to always pick the latter. He had a reputation that is CONSISTENT. I can shovel shit for a month and be good at it, but 5 years? Doubtful.

 Sure, sex is not exactly rocket science, but just because a woman has good reviews for a month, does NOT mean she is going to offer that same great service 2 years later, and reviews confirm that. It goes the other way too. I have seen numerous women start out with horrible reviews, and by the end of the year, they are all solid 9s and 10s. People change, and evolve was my only point, and yes...guys usually do want proof of what you "claim" you provide.

So, saying even hookers don't have to prove themselves is false...most very well do have to prove themselves to charge high rates, and stay in business. Why do you think so many start off at half the rate they are at now? Go look at all the newcomer provider threads if you don't believe me lol. You will see every guy screaming about how high the rates are with no reviews.

I am not saying this guy Ally is speaking of was not out of line, because I agree but to an extent, we kind of do have to prove something to get a guy to pay us. He was just an asshole lol.

No, you'd probably do the research beforehand & be certain he was right b4 contacting him. Maybe you'd have more questions, but throw around "prove yourself!", if I were the surgeon, I would politely answer any additional questions to make you feel at ease, but otherwise tell you to leave my office til u did more research to know I was the right choice.

I do think escorts should prove themselves in some ways, w/ integrity and professionalism, but if a guy contacts me for an appt and says I better prove myself or else b/c he's a well known reviewer, I'd delete his email.

That's how I read Ally's post, but I may be wrong.
