I'm old school with it comes to SCI-FI and Maxtrix Reloaded hits the mark.  It was erotic, it was cool (the fight with the 100 smiths was classic) all around a very good movie.  Here's to them!  Two thumbs up! ! ! !

Funny tongue-in-cheek stuff.  And in general the sex scenes weren't bad.

Amused also by the scene early in the movie where Morpheus exhorts the citizens of Zion to show the machines they are not afraid by - what else? - partying!!!  Yeah! Party hearty!  Actually, more like an orgy.

Good stuff.

Great movie.  Only thing I did not like was the way it ended.

but the scene with all the Mr. Smiths could have been cut by 5 minutes or more and been just fine.

But the absolute brilliance with the movie lies with the speech made by the Architect (sp. sorry) The complete mind set of the Matrix and the way he delves into our own minds to explain it's exsistance was absolutely incredible.

I do have to see it again I think......

I have seen it 3 times (buddy runs a theatre, so twice before it opened) and I have some reservations...

1)  The 'digital neo/agent smith' was shoddy effects.

2)  Didn't see enough of Trinity gettin 'The ONE'

3)  The intentional plot vague spots.

Much was amazing, too much to list.
I have high hopes for #3 and believe it will make #2 well worth the trip.

I am just glad that I didn't watch any of the trailers, articles, TV promo clips before I saw the movie.

JMHO, the 100 smiths fighting scene is too long and none of them were diabled during the fight.  It reminded me of some of the bad kung-fu movies.

BTW, once weapons are used, that fight scene and the one in the grand staircase are awesome.

It worked even better than a remote controlled egg.  He should have followed it up, though, that was a good start but needed more to finish; he was too easily amused.

These are mine, in no particular order; movies that were so outstanding and original I still think about them today:

2001 A Space Odyssey; A Clockwork Orange; Star Wars (first one); Blade Runner; Matrix

"oracle" and the "one" in the original, the unmasking of the manipulation of the idea of prophecy and the need for the matrix to collect info about the adnormality of the system hence the creation of Zion and the super power of neo inside the matrix satisfied the intellectual need of some viewers.

The weapon combat and the freeway fight scenes are great for the male audience and the younger crowds.

The scene where Neo kind of exerted his power over the mechanical octopus outside of matrix gave me hope for new plot lines and interesting twists.  Since the whole trilogy is about alternative reality and setups, I believe the groundwork for a break away in "Matrix Revolution" has been laid in the second episode and the Wachowski brothers won't let us down as in the case of George Lucas.

I am looking forward to watch it again after the coming holiday weekend.

BTW, I saw the DVD of the Japanese anime "Spirited Away" last night.  What a movie!!!  It literally gave me a spiritual cleansing and reinforce the need of constantly reinvigorate myself.

Have fun.

Spaceballs.  I'm surrounded by Assholes!

p.s. For the English majors who have emerged on the board, Assholes is a proper noun in this context and should be capitalized.  That quote is from Dark Helmet when he discovers that Major Asshole has hired all of his Asshole cousins.  May the Schwartz be with you.  ;)

that created the universe we presently live in is part of an endless cycle of expansion/contraction.

Head banger music IS sensual music. But instead of washing over your body and mind like waves, like New Age or jazzy sensual music does, it energizes every cell in your body (or seems like it does).  A "tightening up" kind of abandonment instead of a "relaxing" abandonment.  I like it too.

I have, and I've got to warn you, it can bring out the "pounder" in any guy, which from a woman's point of view could be a bad thing or a good thing! LOL

Kind of reminds me of the scene in "Moonstruck" when Cher says to Nick Cage as they are about to make love, "You're angry at your brother. Take it out on me!"  Double LOL!

As you pointed out, a Freudian slip for each of us! Gee, I wonder why!??  Another LOL! Maybe next time I'll bring some head banger music.

without much break through.  For me, it is not edgy enough.  I kind of expected a lot more from Vin Diesel.

For most of the most sensual women, a little intensity goes a long way, and of course has to be built up to very slowly.

Let's stick with the music we used last time.

In no order:

1. The Thing from Another World (with James Arness).  Some of the tightest direction and dialog I've seen.

2. The Andromeda Strain.  Excellent adaptation from the book.  The scene with Dr. Hall fighting his way up the central core to disarm the nuclear self-destruct always leaves me breathless, no matter how many times I've seen the movie.

3. Alien.  Scared the s**t out of me.  Setting up Capt. Dallas as the hero, and then promptly killing him was inspired.

4. Aliens.  Not as scary as the first, but far more exciting.

5. Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman.  At least it was GOING to be a favorite, until I realized I wasn't going to be able to see up her nightie.  It should have been a clear shot.  Friggin' Hayes Commission.

In alphabetical order:
  Abre los ojos
  Boy and His Dog
  Existenz
Galaxy Quest (that's where I took my handle from)
  Groundhog Day
  Minority Report
The Postman (Yes, I know nobody else in the known universe liked it)
  Stargate
  Strange Days
  The Terminator
  Terminator 2: Judgement Day
  Time After Time
  12 Monkeys

That's not including Fantasy, where I could add
  Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey
  Lord of the Rings
The Ninth Gate (Yes, I know I'm weird)
  Phantom of the Paradise
  The Stuntman

I'm sure there are a lot of great films that I've missed. This is just off the top of my head.

I'd like to ad a few...

The Fifth Element
I wasn't sure If I liked it or not the first time I saw it: Chris Tucker annoyed me with over the top performance.  More fun on each viewing.

The Time Machine
The first one with Rod Taylor.  Hated the remake.

Them!
You know, the one with the giant mutant ants that attack a small Nevada town.  I'm just kidding, but I know you saw it at least once also.  Or The BLOB, where this giant mutant space jelly attacks a small Nevada town and meets Steve McQueen.

In no particular order:

Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan (the ONLY good Star Trek movie, IMHO)
Galaxy Quest
Mars Attacks
All the Terminator movies
All the Tremors movies
Alien
War of the Worlds (the original one)
Voyage Into Space (a low budget 60's Japanese Sci-Fi for kids that still cracks me up)
Robocop (I know, it glorifies LE)
Cherry 2000 (that was a fun one)
The Last Man on Earth (a Vincent Price movie remade and ruined as The Omega Man with Charlton Heston)

I could go on and on and still miss some good ones.

Definitely include Star Trek II and the Terminator flicks here, too.

Others that I haven't yet seen mentioned are:

Fantastic Planet (still one of the very best ever),
Predator,
Predator 2 (in -some- ways, at least...),
and Enemy Mine (one of the few that is neither a monster flick nor an ET clone)

Based on what the Architect said, I thought it possible that Zion was just a different level of the Matrix.  When Morpheus, Neo, et al "unplugged" from the Matrix in the first movie, they were just unplugging from one possible level, cf. "The Thirteenth Floor" ( http://us.imdb.com/Title?0139809 ).  When Neo stopped the sentinel "in real life", I thought that supported this theory.
