To me, it looked  fake. It was theatre that no one saw coming and caught everyone off guard.  It looked like they stole a page out of WWE playbook and executed it down to the tee.  Chris Rock standing there like a mannequin when he can clearly see Smith coming at him seems unreasonable.  It looks like he wanted to get smacked. He didn't retract. He didn't get defensive.. Nothing..  Smith just smacked him and went back.. He didn't really beat him up or cause him any serious bodily injury.  Rock did not retaliate either..  

 
Truth is that no one cares about Oscars like they used to. Going to the movies used to be a big thing.  It's no longer the case. There are tons of other avenues to get entertainment -YouTube, TikTok,  Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, Netflix, HULU, AMAZON Prime, Disney+  just to name a few.  The Academy needed this to spruce things up a little bit.   Chris Rock is starting his new Stand Up tour soon. He can definitely benefit from publicity.  Smith just reached Godly status, and even if he ends up paying fine, who cares.. He has received ton of admiration for valiantly supporting his wife..  There are no losers here.. Just winners..  

 
As far as getting slapped? Who cares... I pay for that shit.. LOL..

 
In the closing, I will say that It is sad that it is getting the same airtime as the  Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

 
The 1/6 Committee investigation has almost become a footnote.  A federal judge from California, David Carter, a Bill Clinton appointee wrote a very scathing opinion yesterday, and while not directly telling the DOJ to get off their ass and do their job, the subtext is quite clear.  Then there has been a lot of news surrounding Ginny Thomas, wife of Clarence Thomas and her unhinged behavior  (texts to Mark Meadows)..  

 
Sorry, I digress, but my point is that real important news should be getting more airtime than one grown ass man bitch slapping another grown ass man.

Which is why no one cares about the news anymore.  Sad....

I took my son about 3 years ago to McD, where they have CNN blaring on all day.  We sat down and I asked him, what do you see on the screen right now?  I prepped him by say that back about 25+ years ago, they had a channel called CNN Headline news where a ticker tape of big new topics of the day scrolled .....  He said....all I see is everyone bashing Trump.....isn't there anything that they should be reporting?  

Basically no, because of ratings.  Jeff Zucker killed news reporting for that channel to try to chase Fox and their "known political commentary king - Rush Limbaugh"  .....etc.....

And....as a result, CNN's recent ratings went south...which amongst other things....killed Zucker's reign.....

No matter which side of the spectrum you're on...... ratings matter.....  actual news reporting is zzzzzzzz to them.
Grew up watching the old coots (Cronkite/Reasoner/Howard K Smith) and although it was known that they had a liberal lean....they did their jobs and reported the news as is....  They were considered trustworthy.  Well, until Dan Rather committed "TV suicide" by going after GHW Bush...at the time about to succeed Reagan, where they were on top of the world.....They keep screwing up each time (all of the major 3).....Brian Williams and his claims...and Nora O'Donnell who needs a smack herself across her righteous mug...  

I binge-watched some newly found Korean Netflix stuff that night......  The women are HOT! I can't understand a word they say, but the subtitles are pretty good..... and no "woke" shit.    
Fuck the Oscars/Academy Awards.........3-4 hours of THAT?  No thanks.....  

The slap: Totally uncalled for and unprofessional in that setting.

 
The joke: He's a comedian, it's literally his job to make folks laugh and if you get caught in the cross hairs then deal with it.  Maybe the joke was corny and dull (I thought it was funny), but I didn't know she suffers from Alopecia, because I don't follow or watch her show.  I think Will would have been better served to just grab the mic and state that his wife suffers from the condition.    

 
As far as mirror:  I think he's (at this point) got a lot of built up anger toward the publicly embarrassing situations she has put him in.

 
My question is how Jada gone sit up there on Red Table talk discussing and trying to solve other peoples problems and not address her own shit at home. For decades she has made him feel inferior by comparing and confessing her love to Tupac and he has had to answer questions on how that made/makes him feel.  Then within the last couple of years more mess with "the entanglement" she had with August Alsina.  Clearly Will is hurting and frustrated and it’s partly because of his wife publicly embarrassing him over the years.

Apparently the Academy is considering booting him, revoking his Oscar and/or banning him from next year’s Oscars.

I don’t think the slap was a fake, and believe some sort of sanction is warranted , although revoking his Oscar is a bit extreme.

I couldn't care less about those pompous asses and there self promoting ego orgies.  

Chris Rock was a total class act and he says he didn't know about the medical issues.

Will smith has been pampered and promoted (why I don't know) from his start on Fresh Prince.  There was even talk of some sort of issues with female actors back then that was covered up and they have been covering for him ever since.  Jim Carey (of al people) said it best when he said Smith is dealing with internal issues and this was just a manifestation.  The best part was when Smith initially laughed and THEN saw that Ms. smith wasn't amused and went off.  Watch Smith's face when he is yelling.  He's not right.

A pageant for the politically correct....at least up to the point Will Smith did his smack down.

It also said it told him to leave the hall after the incident but Smith refused.
