So the thread below got me wondering...

To make it short and sweet, and hopefully educational: SRS is not only major surgery, but it can be mind fucking. Some studies showed that there was a high rate of suicides among transgender women who went post op. Now, in order for one to get SRS, one has to go to see a psychologist for an undetermined amount of time (I don't know this part very well), and the shrink has to sign off on it, before you can get SRS.

Most health insurance providers don't cover such operations. So another factor is money. Do you have 25 k, or more to spare for the operation? It's not easy. That's only the physical aspect. What about the emotional, the mental side of it?

In my personal experience: it's a thought that crosses my mind at least once a day. I think I will ultimately do it. Now if I have learned something, is that rushing into it, may be counter productive, so in other words; the time has to be right. In my transition, most things that I did were because my body, and my mind demanded those changes. I addressed them as they came. With SRS... I feel like while my body craves it. My mind isn't letting me come to terms with it. So while my brain catches up to my body. I sort of have to learn to live with it

the statement he made, would be a possibility if you go with an inexperienced surgeon. I know a few Post op Tgirls from the west coast who have told me they have orgasms. Unless they're lying... I have to believe the possibility of having orgasms is still very much there.

I was having this conversation with my little sis a few weeks ago, and she asked me the same question. I answered based on what I have read, and testimonials of friends. She said, there is not way. I asked why? She said, after having my first baby. It has become very hard for me to orgasm from intercourse, and before it used to be so easy. So I guess if she concluded that if doing something so natural as to having a baby would do that to her vagina. She would assume that having your penis cut and shaped into a vagina, would certainly take away that ability to orgasm.

I guess it all depends on the individual, and the plastic surgeon's experience. But as a good scientist would tell you... Anything is possible lol.

Like I said before. Mentally I'm not ready yet. God bless the girls who had the "balls" to get SRS (pun intended). I envy them. But we all have our own journey to go thru.

I'm glad my post started some conversation about this. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to be born in the wrong body.

Shit, that's how I feel about my diet lol!

But yeah - definitely get that you want to be fully ready - not premature. Also, I have even taken I think 1.5 years to really think out if I want to get a little botox. Even that change can screw with your head if you're not ready, or pressured into it.

I got new pictures done and got the proofs back, and I looked so different just with long hair and with 20# weight loss, and much more quality in clothing too... I seriously had nightmares, cried, and even had some fear. So I postponed the botox (Not anything crazy, just shit you realize when your skin reaches the "30's" elasticity level lol.) because it was too much.

But now I'm ready and excited for it, but even this time - only a teeny tiny tweak so I don't freak the fuck out lol! I learned.

Someone told me even with cosmetic surgery some people can disconnect from themselves for a while. There's a huge mental process in that, in weight loss, in weight gain, in style, a move, even something as simple as changing clothing style. (Someone tried to change my style of clothing choices to soccer mom/preppy/golfer's wife. OMG I about died.)

So yeah, I can't fully understand something like it, but I do understand that there comes a point where your psyche comes to terms/matures in timing where you just know this is when.

I also think the Universe / unseen protects us by putting road blocks, preventing us from things until we're ready for them. Like - OK, I scheduled surgery. Oops! I need to do a home repair. Guess I can't get it done yet. (or doctor's not available the day you want to go in, money gets sucked up somewhere else, taxes due, you're a dollar short, etc etc...) I kind of like that extra layer of protection too from whatever's out there helping me out.

But if you say there will most likely be a time, awesome - I'm sure waiting will make it more peaceful and feel more right for yourself. I'm a baby, I couldn't go through that kind of surgery, kudos to those who do.

:) :) :) :) :)

You're a smart girl, and it sounds like you're very self aware and wise. :) Wish you the best if/when your mind is ready!!

it is not a choice, it is a not plastic surgery

why would somebody "choose" to put oneself through such a major surgery and struggle with nonacceptance of many in the society unless one strongly felt the strong need to converge the gender assigned at birth to the gender brain and heart dictate..

I also believe that the universe has a way to tell you when it's time to do something, or when maybe you should be better off waiting a little longer. Don't get me wrong, I can find 100 reasons why I should do the operation now. But the more I consider it, the more my brain tells me no. Yet my brain can't tell me why I shouldn't do it. So while I can't find any good reason not to do it. I know that I'm just not ready for it. Gotta trust what your body and mind tells you.

I agree with you. Whether it's something minor, or major, if you're not ready for it; whatever it is, you will probably regret at some point.

Like when you start planning something, talking about something,
It's like - "nonononononononononononono!"

And then you do it anyway, and there's a release -  but you see why your gut was like "dude. stop." later?

Always great to listen to your gut. But sometimes it's not "no" but a "not now".

You're WK'ing for Drew? This finally makes some sense. Why don't you make him get that review done?

Did the nurses forget to give your med's WKing for a monger? And I hate doing reviews so I may take a break from feeding the masturbation material for awhile. Sorry Bernard.

I think he was talking about JLS/Corrine/GallopingGourmet and not you.

Drew and JLS been having a little love fest on the boards for several days now. I think many of us wish they would just get a room already.

You need educate yourself on what the word female means, unless you want to remain ignorant. Females aren't born with penises. Females are born with ovaries.
