I know I am in the tiny minority of "normal" men, but I never understood the attraction of going to "gentleman's clubs" to see strippers or get lap dances.  I would find it nothing but frustrating, where as when I find myself naked in bed with a lovely provider for a couple of hours, it can be pure and prolonged ecstasy. What am I missing?

I agree. I don't understand why you'd drop $300 on lap dances when you could get the real thing. Only advantage to strip club is you can bring along 15 buddies; well, I guess you could bring along those 15 guys when you visit a provider.

I've never felt comfortable at a strip club b/c society has trained us to look a gal in the face and not her chest when addressing her. I know the stripper expects me to stare at her tits, but I still feel awkward doing it.

Ok, it's nice to have an appointment with a provider. If she's known to you, you know what to expect. If not there is perhaps a little mystery but you know that sex will very likely happen.

But - where is the thrill of the chase?  

I *love* the thrill of the chase. Mind you, at my age, I don't *always* want to have to chase...but it's still fun. I chase civvy tail now and again. A decent looking well groomed and well heeled middle aged guy is a fairly hot property in my area and at the right clubs - but civvies generally are not as well groomed as providers. And do not have a professional mindset about a zipless fuck. Which can leave complications....

But !! Strippers !!  Strippers are fun to chase. They are usually attractive and well groomed. Usually sexually adept. You get to inspect the wares to see if she meets with your approval. And, strippers can be had. It's a little more work (often not much more) than seeing an escort. And the expenses, though distributed differently, are generally comparable. One has to beware of drug involvement, which I am not saying happens with *every* ecdysiast, but is not uncommon. But all in all, having to put forth a little creative effort in the chase adds to the experience for me. When I'm in the mood for the chase.....

I'm with you 100% on this one. I took a trip to Phoenix with a couple of friends who couldn't wait to get to the strip clubs. While they were at the clubs, I had a dinner date with a fantastic lady. They got their lap dances, each spent more money than I did, and they didn't get to touch any part of any lady. I, on the other hand, had a wonderful evening with a very sensual lady, and spent about three glorious hours touching and beyond.

To top it off, they were sharing a room, so neither of them could even rub one out after they got back.

There use to to strip clubs that allow on-premises sex.  And there may still be, but not in my area now.  It was popular in SF when I lived there in the 90s and I'm sure there were other cities both then and now.  There is always the possibility of off-premises dates too, no matter where you are.  

It is very hot to watch a girl dance naked in public  view and then make love to them.  In the right venue, they actually compete for your attention.  

One old stomping ground of mine had a cattle call (their term, not mine).  All the ladies came out at once on the stage and then danced naked.  Then they came down into the audience and asked you, one by one, for a "private show".  That meant screwing.  I miss  the old Market Street Cinema.

I happen to love strip clubs as a source of entertainment.  I spend a few bucks but I don't throw away piles of money looking to score or trying to get a hand job in the VIP room.  

It's a bar with naked women.  I watched most of the Red Sox 2004 world series in a strip club with mostly hot Brazilian dancers.  Nothing like trying to explain baseball to a beautiful woman wearing a g-string and a smile...

A lot of hobbyists see strip clubs as a waste of time or a tease. I agree that they are a tease but they are only a waste of time if you are going for the wrong reasons.

I have always enjoyed strip clubs. I can’t imagine being in a long term relationship without my SO being open to going to strip clubs with me…or not being bothered by my going alone ever so often. To me, there is nothing better than the female form gyrating to sensual music. (Well, maybe sex). The touch of her body to mine, the way her body can move beyond my belief, her hair grazing my face as she gets close, my snapping her g-string as I put a few dollars in it, etc. (depending on the type of club, even smacking her behind! – gentlemen, do not attempt!).  It is lovely to watch, a turn on, and a bonus if I have a SO to make love to afterwards! Years ago the strip clubs were fun when I went with a bunch of guys had a few beers, commented on some female anatomy.. but no more..Why sit there with a raging HO when you can spend time with a wonderful woman, share a nice bottle of wine and have a wonderful encounter.

Back in '96, I remember being at a club in NJ during Game 3 of the ALCS.  In the 8th inning the Yanks were rallying.  During the pivotal play of the game, I had a hottest dancer in the club, naked of course, jump off the stage, and right into my lap. Back in the day, strip clubs were fun places to hand out with my buds, down a few, smoke a stogie, and enjoy the live entertainment.  Back in the days before lap dances became the prime attraction, spending more than $50 on drinks and tipping the ladies was a big night.  LD's changed all that, of course, and it became easy to drop $$+ for a night out, more if you really liked one or more the ladies.  

Discovering TER and the hobby several years ago brought my strip club days to an end msotly, and I seldom go anymore.  I do have lots and lots of good memories, and could write a book about them.  My only regret is that I that I did not discover the hobby and TER sooner than I did...frequenting strip clubs for LD's is a poor substitute for hobbying...

Odd, I found the ladies at the Mons to be a little on the "tired" side, but probably because I was used to the college girls that used to populate Matthews in Salem, NH. On the other hand, for many of the ladies the Mons's "no touching" policy on lap dances seemed to mean "don't try to stick your fingers in me" and not much else.

But to answer the OP, yes, after the excitement of seeing real, live naked women wore off, strip clubs were just a frustrating tease.

some guys do not know about the hobby, or associate it all with SW. Others will shy away from it regardless b/c afraid of LE. Still others may not think that looking is "cheating" on their SO while sex is.
