Memphis boys: if a lady is hosting downtown, is that too inconvenient for you, or is it workable, or even preferred?

Just curious.  No particular reason.  ;)

I actually wanted to stay downtown at first  when I visited Memphis  due to all the fun music bars and nightlife downtown but when I asked clients what area they preferred they pretty much all said east Memphis both times I visited the area. I guess downtown is a little bit more of a pain for parking and not as discrete.PM me if you want some nice hotel recommendations in the area.Memphis is great!

I've been told that the East Memphis area is safer....Can anyone shed some light on this.

All the private responses I received suggested East Memphis.  I have stayed in East Memphis before and I would recommend avoiding lower end / exterior entrance - style motels as I've had bad experiences (accidentally) booking one before.  I booked a hotel that is usually a medium/higher quality business hotel in other areas but for somereason is a low-end motel in that area.  So yes, East Memphis is supposed to be the best area.  I just wanted to know if downtown was something that works as well.  Seems not, from the lack of responses.

Downtown is a great local to get together. It has a little more anticipation. East Memphis is flat and generic. I'd come see you downtown in a heartbeat
