Not my idea, but I completely agree. I am summarizing from a thread on the LA regional board:Someone who sees a new lady that has not yet been reviewed and then writes a review for her deserves special credit - because he is taking more of a chance, and helping the rest of us. Something like double credit for the first review of a lady sounds good. If it later turns out that a new review was bogus, the credit is taken away. What do you think?
While I already posted in the thread you have referred to, I'll do so again as this really seems a more appropriate board for the question.I think it's definitely a good idea...maybe "double" is a reasonable amount of credit. (When my previous post mentioned a couple of extra days it was meant figuratively) As another poster in that thread pointed out, there's little chance the extra membership time could monetarily equal the $ put at risk--but remembering YMMV, there's some degree of risk even if seeing a previously reviewed provider--there are no guarantess in this hobby. What I think it boils down to is merely a question of a fun kind of incentive...and I'm all for it!!
Sorry mojo, but makes no sense, and is way outside scope and purpose of the board. These are my comments to this thread on the ISO board -- "I guess you just don't get it. Why should TER support your (our) habit in any way? What is the incentive to give free time to us for our hobby? Just knock it off, and get busy with your own investigation. This is a public forum, not a social club where TER is obligated in any way to our enjoyment or our betterment. Staff does a wonderful job doing what they said they would do. This freebie stuff is way beyond reasonable."Keep in mind that your position is based on what is helpful to us, not TER, so why should TER give credit. We ought buy the guy a drink or take him to dinner. Maybe we can establish the "TER Scholarship Fund" to be given to the bravest and most beneficial hunter. All of us contribute and we administer a committee to select the recipient of the award.
Outpost, you are entitled to your opinion. What a business does to keep their clients happy varies and is up to the business. It's well known in the business world that if you keep your clients happy, they will continue to be clients, and refer others. You may think this "makes no sense". If not enough new ladies are being reviewed, some clients may not renew. If the incentive was given, there would be more new ladies, which would be good for the site. Nobody said TER is "obligated" to do this, it was just a suggestion for them to consider.
Just a quick thought. You guys expect everything for nothing!! You post reviews requesting a new look, new features, new this and new that….this stuff costs MONEY. If you do not pay a membership then who will pay to maintain this website? Do any of you know how it much it costs to install a detailed search or any other neat features? Who is going to pay to have these convenient features added? What you need to really look at, is the purpose of this board and how much money it is saving you. Stop haggling over a pathetic $20. If you cannot afford to pay this fee and do not feel that you have received any benefits from the reviews that all the members post, then you should not be here. I am sorry if this sounds aggressive but I cannot believe that you would not feel it is your obligation to post reviews and to cough up $20 buck to try and help maintain this awesome resource of info remain active.
We have talked about added time for new reviews. I don't think that it will be double, but we are planning to do something. We are not sure what that will be yet.
As mojo noted, this thread was brought over from the LA board. Here's the text of my post there. The "couple extra day" incentive plan sounds great, but wouldn't work. Think about it. For those who pay the $20 for membership, the cost is less than $.70 per day. A two day credit is, and you can check my math here, $1.40. Who is willing to risk $$ to $$$$ on an high risk proposition with an upside of $1.40? Until TER is willing to put out 6-12 MONTHS of free access with review of an "virgin" provider, the incentive plan is unworkable. And for the record, this should NOT be construed as suggesting that 1.) TER should give away 6-12 months of access and 2.) that those who lurk and do not contribute are not hurting their own cause.
How about a contest, where every so often (month, quarter, year), the person who submitted the most first reviews is honored and rewarded in some way. I would personally contribute to the reward, but I don't know how that would work. Maybe there's a box to check when you join/renew: "contribute $5 toward prize for most new reviews?" I would do it. If TER can find someway for me to give appreciation and incentive to those brave reviewers, I would.mojo
