And if it's a snooping wife or SO thing, you could open a separate checking account and get a debit card. I understand that may be inconvenient to avoid a snooping SO, I had a snooping wife and I ended the marriage because of that and other issues. I did not start my hobby career until after I left my ex, so perhaps I don't know the delicacies you may be facing. But I damn sure got my own separate checking account when things seemed to be going south so that I could transfer 1/2 of our shared money if/when things got real bad. CYA man, hell hath no furry like a woman scorned. I say that even though I don't believe in a hell, it is a very accurate saying though. And honestly, if it is a snooping SO, you know it's quite likely that you will get caught if you're cheating, right?
You can also buy VIP via money order. It takes a few days, so its not immediate like CC, but its pretty safe, and no need to open separate Checking Account. If he and his SO, even hypothetically speaking, end up in a divorce court, its pretty damn difficult if not impossible to hide any form of accounts from attorneys....
When people say gift cards I assume they mean prepaid credit cards as the same thing. But my understanding is that they don't work for paying for membership because TER is a non USA company. It doesn't matter to me, and I have never tried and have no reason to, but I see the question come up all the time on the newbie board. Would be nice to know which (if any) prepaid cards or "gift" cards work, to help answer these questions when they come up.
