Actually I do not understand why updated threads do not appear at the top of the list in a "discussion board". In an Internet forum, threads with the most recent activity are placed at the head of the list so people can easily read them without going back pages to see if they have been updated.
The threads (postings) with the hottest activity will appear first and not just by first posting time.
I realize that TER has a population of users that are very used to things being done a certain way, but in my opinion this one only makes sense. I believe that a very few threads should be able to be "pinned" by a moderator if they are important enough.
Please should also realize that it takes time to get any changes that are requested and thought to be a good idea by management scheduled, implemented, tested and rolled out.
Just my personal opinions.
(Most of this is from a discussion on the DC Regional Board)
it would be very interesting if reviewers posted their age along their reviews of providers. I realize some may want to maintain anonymity, so perhaps an optional field.
The knock on this is that a troll can keep sending a thread that ought to have been retired back to the front of the board endlessly thus blocking more current and relevant threads.
I think that if a thread merits more attention, a poster can start a new one and link to the old thread. It's a bit more work, but keep the trolls at bay.

There is an easy solution to people that do this. Ban them. Really very simple. Also, besides regulars, a posting must be manually approved by a moderator.
It is not a problem on other Internet forums. The current way makes absolutely sense, imo.
we'd have far too few people adding to the boards. Instead, we'd have nothing but homogeneous, "I agree with you" yes-men and yes-women on here. Not a good idea the way a board like this works.
