Suggestion and Policy

There is a 3 or 4 hour window to edit posts made under your main handle.

I understand that TER doesn't want people flaming other members and causing trainwrecks, only to edit the offending posts a few minutes later... However, I sometimes find myself making posts with obvious typos or broken pictures links etc. Would it be possible to offer the option to edit or delete alias posts within- say- the first 5 minutes?  Like many TER members, I usually access the boards using a smart phone with a touch screen... and sometimes it has a mind of it's own and posts things before I'm done writing/editing. I feel bratty when I waste TER staff's time by reporting my own posts for deletion because there is no other way to edit.

This has been asked for here before also. I actually think aliases were able to edit posts back in the day, but that was taken away.

If you ask me, THAT is too long of a window and can sometimes be abused. All I'm asking for is a measily 10 or 15 minute window to fix broken links, typos that were somehow over-looked, and posts that went live prematurely because we hit the wrong spot on the phone touch screen by a fraction of an inch. Pretty please?

It makes no sense not to have this feature.

I have NOW been able to successfully edit a few alias posts so they don't read like ransom notes! Lol. Thanks again...

When you sign up as a member of TER, you pick a "username," also known as a "handle." Yours is "MINGSANGELS," mine is "perfectstorm." in addition to a username,VIP members can also select an alias. How you can tell the difference is the yellow envelope under the name at the top left of a post. In this thread you will see a yellow envelope by your name, my name and Curly's name. That means we are posting under our handles. The posters using their alias (in this thread, "hookerwith" and "maximus") have no envelope by their name.

There are many reasons to use an alias. Some TER members love them and some hate them. Here is a link to TER's acceptable uses of an alias:
