The downside of that is that is displays all posts as received in chronological order, but not as they relate to which post is being commented on.

Therefore the gist of the discussion is often lost.

Clicking on every post is kind of tedious in a lonnnnnng thread and sometimes you lose your place, too.  An expand all option to open up every post to see its contents in their entirety would be nice...

The "view all" button only appears once you have clicked on a post in a particular thread.  Then the "View All" button appears in the bottom right hand side of the page.

That way you save one step if you know you are going to read the whole thread.
It could go at the bottom right, inside the grey area of the post, just next to the last post title.
