Suggestion and Policy

One thing I have a hard time understanding is

first reviews by first time reviewers.  Suppposedly, these reviews are denied.  However, time and time again, I look at a review in Florida and whaddya know?  A first review of a provider by a first-time reviewer.

Can anyone from TER explain why this is happening?  I posted it here because I wanted other posters to know that it is going on all the time, at least in Florida.

Anyone else notice this phenomenon in your area?

Thanks for reading.

I saw one lady who had 6 reviews, all by first time reviewers and all written in the same style with very similar names.  It was obvious what was going on.

IMHO I think they should be  but they are not

I can site many instances in Philly where this occurs.....

This has been asked before.  I believe the official TER answer was along these lines:

The policy is that TER will, at their discretion, withhold approval of a first review of a provider with no previous reviews if the reviewer _HAS LITTLE OR NO HISTORY_ on TER.

Apparently, this doesn't refer directly to _review_ history only.  If a person has been a member for a while, has logged on many times over a long enough time period, and/or has a history of posting on the various boards, then they have established a TER history.

While I can kind of understand their reasoning (ie. it is unlikely someone would go to those extreme lengths simply to get a fraudulent review approved), it still is a little odd to me.  I never trust a provider that has only reviews from first-time reviewers.

Then again, it is TER's site and they make the rules.  Do what I do and try not to let it irk you.

That is a reasonable explanation that does make sense.  You are right, it is their site and they do make the rules, I just wish they would not make statements and then not follow their own policies that they expect us to follow.

I think the policy of not allowing first reviews by first-time reviewers is a good one.  IMHO, posting history has little or nothing to do with writing reviews, and log-in even less.

But like you said, they make the rules.

and every fat broad from coast to coast came raining down upon me, but since then this same provider has not had a review better than a 6/6.
