...and being unmoderated, it was posted immediately.  Later the exact same reply by a moderated poster was put up before mine, making it look like I copied him.

The moderated poster may have written his reply before me but it shouldn't have been put on the board before mine.

TER shouldn't go simply by the time the post was written, but taken into consideration the moderation factor.

It is embarrassing and annoying.

I suspect that for TER to change the order of how posts go up would require some kind of gargantuan software rewrite, and that ain't a gonna happen.

As a software engineer, you gather incorrectly. This would involve small code changes.

In any case, the powers that be may not think it is worth the effort.
