I understand that the Admins need to insulate themselves from litigation, and to do so might mean TER can no longer exist. There is no fault in self preservation and we would all mind our own interests over others when put into this situation.
The prospects of losing 1.5 million reviews is bleak at best, but that data can live on even when the site likely cannot. I am proposing that if it is the Admins' intention to shut the site down, that they do what is best for the hobby and allow the review databases to be downloaded. Reviewer details could be anonymized without much trouble (a simple serial number would be sufficient) and with that information TER could live on in the form of private servers. Because that data would be much harder to censor once disseminated, TER would have a fighting chance at being reborn in the future, perhaps when the laws are more reasonable. A torrent download is easy enough to seed anonymously and if even a small percentage of active users had a copy, that data would be impossible to remove from the internet. This is critical, because that data keeps us all safe and well informed. Without it, we're completely in the dark.
