I know there is no way to police this, but there are people out there who never contribute to the boards and always post under aliases in order to incite and inflame. It would be nice if only 10% of your posts could be as an alias and only then for the nine reasons stated.
I'm tired of seeing flaming arrows shot at providers and hobbyists alike by those with bad intentions who hide behind aliases. It's a mood kill.
I guess every board has them.
I see what you are saying, but however,
That would cause , us, the followme family a serious problem.
I would suggest giving the mods more leeway on filpping an alias when they incite and or flame etc.
Thank You

You need to express your contempt for an ATTACK by an alias. That is disallowed. However, consider that you may like to utilize an alias at some point before you go complaining. Just a thought.
BTW; don't get that Followme clan going. They multiply like frickin rabbits.
EasterFollowmeBunnyjust got back from multipling ....er uh I mean vacation and read your post.
Thank You

Perhaps 95% of my posts are under alias. Limiting alias postings would limit traffic on boards that are already slow.
Some of us do not like to Google our hobby handles and read shit that has left TER and will remain in cyberspace. My reviews are attached to my handle and I like to choose what I post under it.
As far as I am concerned the alias feature is the second best thing about TER.
There is no such thing as a public board without flames. It's the nature of the beast.
In addition, what you may call flames are not necessarily what the poster intends.
You can join the party or ignore it bro
I was specifically referring to the folks who do flame and incite behind the anonimity of an alias.
Doesn't your TER handle provide enough of a cloak? Isn't that what it is for?
I do most of my best inciting under an alias. My posting would drop to about 10% of it's current level if I was restricted. My fellow moderators would bear the brunt of my grumpiness.
If I was, it was by accident.
I love your new alias, BTW. You have to teach me that trick.
but I can't recall if that has happened yet.
Does anyone know of that happening?
I can get to flip with me?!?!? LMAO
Just don't tell MR. ADMIN.
I was just there. It's full of adults engaged in lively debate. I'll grant you that many in attendance are childish, but seeing as that there is no discounted rate for childish, we let them play as well.
It's rare, but it happens.
you are usually the model of restraint
As pointed out there are some real folks who use aliases on the board to just remain anonymous, and not to be an asshole.
I think the thing to do would be to have something similar to the facecrook "like" button, but instead it's the "troll alert" button. So many troll alerts and it automatically flags the post to the board admin for review.
To many "troll alerts" from someone that do not result in being moderated for a minimum amount of time. (not real sanction, but a warning) by the board monitor gets the "troll alerter" moderated.
Looking at my list, I have about 20!
I don't generally use them to troll (except for once by accident); but instead -- oddly enough -- to either be humorous or nice.
One provider discovered that about 20% of my posts are aliased. So I just copied and pasted my aliases into a PM to her.
She was kind of surprised to discover the evil aliases had been used to post helpful stuff, poems for providers who had posted poems and stuff like that.
Of course, my writing style is pretty identifiable so I can't really use aliases for anonymity. Besides, they could be flipped.
So I try to make sure anything controversial is done using my real handle.
Still, I like aliases.
The problem isn't aliases. The problem is assholes.
Moderators on this board have the capacity to identify people who are stalking, trolling, and just generally being a pain in the ass.
Getting rid of aliases won't make anyone any less of an asshole. It will just make the presence of those assholes harder to ascertain.
I have about 80 of them, although I should start trimming list down. It's no big secret, many people know some of my aliases.
I think every fourth post should be required to be an alias. Yes! I want everything controlled to my particular liking. It's all about me. I'm AM THE ONE.
Thanks for listening.

. . . I never flame. Instead, I have been flamed many times for no other reasons than using an alias.
Some thinks that I have something, such as my reviews, to hide which is not true.
Could some one explain why we have this option? Why are people hidding behind a fake name whrn this site should be safe to talk about anything.
