You guys have had a good idea by sponsoring a contest for those who first try out un-reviewed providers, but you could do better by offering a free month's membership to the first reviewer of a new provider.  I'd feel a lot more comfortable trying out some new ones in that case.  

Another similar idea:  how about a section of the site where guys can pool their money (say $25 or $50 each) to send someone out to try out a new provider and post her review?  There are some really nice looking providers that I'd like to try out but I don't want to spend the bucks unless she's been reviewed first.  I wouldn't mind spending $25 or even $50 to find out if she's fun first, AS LONG AS she was on my short list of providers that I'd like to find out about first.  It's so discouraging to get your hopes up only to find out she's a phony.  

There were so many problems with the new provider contest we decided to stop it.  Too bad.

We would love to sponsor in-depth reconnaissance; unfortunately there are legal issues with that.
