I have new e-mail?

Over the last few weeks I've noticed a button that says I have new mail but when I click on it, it says I need to be a VIP member to get mail. I understand this.

So, I'm wondering, when someone sends me mail through TER, why don't they get an autoreply that says I don't have VIP access, therefore can't receive mail through TER.

I would surely love to see who has written to me and I don't want them to think I'm ignoring them - I just can't get to their e-mail!

TER's position is that they want to motivate you to become a member. I have to respect this. Here is Staff's reply:
