Move TER to a Legal Location

Some web sites have moved to Switzerland or Netherlands and changed from .comm to .cc.
Has TER considered this to bring back the AD board which was important part of TER.

If TER were based outside the USA, Congress would have no jurisdiction over it!

First of all, not being a US citizen is no protection from being indicted in the US, and having the US request extradition.   The other country may or may not grant such extradition, but now you are personally on the hook for legal costs to fight same, and your ability to travel to other countries becomes greatly compromised.

But the real stinger is the CLOUD Act that accompanied SESTA.   With that, the US can now barge into networks around the world and collect evidence that can then be used in a US court.

It's a whole new ballgame.   We can hope that the courts toss out enough parts of the new law to take the pressure off of us, but that will take time.

If you check out the Legal Corner Board, you will find a very good analysis by Davephoenix from about a week ago regarding the CLOUD Act.

(still not a lawyer)

I don't think they will cooperate with any US government agency in the foreseeable future.

Didn't Trump get caught over there doing pee play over there?
