A few days ago, I posted on the NY board asking opinions on the best area to stay in Long Island. The first reply- from someone who has never posted on that board or reviewed anyone- ignored my question and instead gave a list of specific hotels in Long Island that he liked. This was rather irritating (see: title of my post).  
I did receive several other very helpful replies. When someone posted pointing out that specific hotels should be mentioned via PM, not as a public post, I replied that I agreed and was only looking for suggestions about the area to stay in, not hotel recommendations.
Then the thread was pulled, apparently for violating "policy guidelines". I have read the guidelines over and over and cannot figure out how they were violated! Any thoughts?

I think an over eager beaver on TER's side pulled it on account of the hotel names being on one post.

I think if you want to repost it, it should be OK, but state explicitly in the title "No hotel names please!"

don't feel bad. I had a thread that was pulled. I asked TER for specifics on what my post violated. Never got a response.
