Okay, I admit, coming from me this is weird. I'm usually the guy responding here to every new regional board request with a comment like: "Just what TER needs! Another dead board!" I even shoot down suggestions for a board for my own state because I know it would be dead.

However, in this case there may be a good argument for one or more new regional boards for California. With the shutdown of that other site, there has been a huge influx of new members. The TER San Fransisco regional board has 584 posts in the last 5 days. In the 90 days prior to that it had only 129 posts! The SF board here was a slow board because the other site was popular in SF. Now that it's gone, SF's board has exploded. Of course the large number of posts are not going to last forever, and things will probably settle down in the next few weeks. 100 posts per day will not be the norm, but I'm guessing 100 posts in 90 days won't be either.  

Anyway, there are many other areas of California that were covered by that site, besides SF, and the providers and hobbyists from that site are looking for new homes. Earlier today a provider asked on the newbie board about Sacramento. Personally I don't think Sacramento warrants it's own board but perhaps TER should consider a "California Central Valley" board, and perhaps an "Inland Empire" board (covering San Bernadino, Riverside, etc., and maybe a "California Gold Coast" board. Gold Coast is actually listed as a city option for reviews but it has no discussion or ad board.

Another option is just a "California other cities" board, that would cover all parts of CA besides SF, SD, LA, and OC which already have their own boards. This would of course be different from the existing "other cities" board which covers the world.  

Maybe add just one discussion boards but several ad boards? Things for admin to think about, but I know the wheels usually turn slow here. In this case this is something you should jump on fast to take advantage of the influx of new members and make them feel at home.

I second his request.

The other website had a lot of activity so I don't think it will be a waste what so ever. I think we could get ALOT of people to agree.

Another vote for a Sacramento discussion and ad forum.

Hope they work out well.

Los Angeles is IN Orange County.  So the OC, by some, might be considered redundant.

The city of Los Angeles is in Los Angeles County. Orange County is a seperate county to the South of Los Angeles.

Point taken.  

Somehow my first post got lost in the atmosphere.  

My point is that the OC, Inland Empire and San Diego are all within an hour or two of each other.  

Sacramento to SF = two hours on average but can take four with traffic.
Sacramento to Fresno = three hours
Sacramento to Bakersfield = four hours

While I understand that the maps state the Sacramento Valley is part of the Central Valley, for those of us who live here, it is a separate region due to distance to travel.    

Similarly, including Redding in the Central Valley pushes the time travel to double the amount of time.  

My point, and I realize for some reason that I am angry about this, is that the Sacramento board was one of the busiest and most populated boards because we had our own area and were not included in the CV OR Bay Area forums. If TER can differentiate the OC from LA from the Inland Empire which can be as close as 30 minutes to each other, why can't Sacramento have it's own Board?

And if we can't have our own board, why not at least change the title of the CV forum to "Sacramento/CV" so that we can see that is the forum where we belong?  As it is, Sac guys and gals will either not post at all or will go to the SF forum because that it where we are closest to.  

I just really wish the people who are making these decisions would appreciate that those of us who live in this state better understand the geography than someone who is simply googling the state and looking at maps. Unless you have lived and worked in both Northern AND Southern California, I am unsure you can fully appreciate that Sacramento may BE in the Central Valley geographically but logistically, we are better served by being called NOR CAL than the CV.
