Removal of Threads.

I am not sure if this has ever been talked about but it has not been brought up recently.

I understand some people put their foot in their mouth and post without thinking.... but seriously deleting whole branches of threads or even the thread itself after many people respond (and stay on topic) isn't right. You take away from the enjoyment of the board and basically censor other peoples' comments by doing that, whether you meant to or not. I understand the Mods may take stuff down, and they have a right to. However why would someone go post something, wait for 30-40 posts, and then go ask to have it all pulled when it is on topic is disrespectful.  

I am not just speaking about my recent thread, I am also referring to the almost 7 threads a week that keep disappearing. I do not feel those were all taken down by Mods but rather by the OP. Would it be so hard to think before posting? It isn't even the threads been taken down, but also the branches as well. Yes, some were taken down because the person either put their foot in their mouth or didn't like the responses. This is not just by one poster, but numerous people.  

This board is suppose to be about being able to express one self, learn/help one another, and have fun. Why should people like I even bother to post a thread or a response if it is only to be taken down? Why should anyone? No, I have barely been on any of the threads or branches that got taken down, I am just making a point.

What is everyone elses' thoughts on this?

Removal of Posts and Threads

I believe that some of the OPs requested removal of their posts due to some of the hostilities that the subject of their post brought on.  What we don't often see is what may be occurring separately, such as received a large number of unwanted PMs.  

I have also seen some of those same posts on various regional boards.  Maybe they made a mistake in not knowing which was the best place.  That is going to occur.  

While I agree with you that this should be a place to openly express yourself, to learn from others and help others who may have already have experienced a situation that they are now encountering.  From my short time here, what I've read sometimes make me question the civility of a number of responders who appear to enjoy and take pleasure in demeaning others.  Yes, the OP may deserve it and bring it on themselves, that still doesn't grant a license to inflame.  I personally wont respond, its not worth my time and effort.

I don't think the OPs are requesting to have their own threads removed...

...I believe most of the removed threads are due to complaints by other posters.  Some threads or branches get out of hand so the offending portions are excised.

That certainly could be the case.  The moderator certainly has the right to delete/remove threads and branches when they believe it to be warranted.

What I find curious and slightly odd was there were there were two other comments on this thread, both have been removed.  Neither of those comments should have drawn a complaint by anyone.  So why were they removed?  

One thing that the OP of this topic stated, and I concur with, is that people need to think through what they are going to post before they hit the submit button.  A prime example of this can be found on the General Discussion board.  Someone posted a topic that has zero purpose, doesn't have any substance and truthfully I find to be just gibberish.  How or why it was approved to be posted is beyond comprehension.

One of the removed posts in this thread was mine. I accidentally...

...posted it as a reply to the wrong post, rather than the OP, so I deleted it and re-posted it in the correct position.

Sometimes a thread on the General Board gets hijacked and devolves into a conversation between two hobbyists that has nothing to do with the thread.  Those kind of branches should be removed.

Has more of this happened since "a certain someone" was allowed to come back?

This person has a long history of pulling his posts to delete a thread when things aren't going his way.  He is also noteworthy for reporting posts he doesn't like. That said, it can also be the mods deciding things have gotten out of hand.

None of my posts that were pulled had anything to do, or were part of any branch of AlexandraMilw threads or posts.  I have accepted the fact that the GD board is not for me and I asked TER to remove all my posts for the last week.
     If you AlexandraMilw want to see me ousted from this site, then you have my full endorsement on one condition.  When TER banishes me that all the reviews that I've written have my handle taken off them as well.  I don't think it's too much to ask that you add that into your vote to cast me off this site.  Do you

I don't know why you had to go make it personal. I have never even reported a post unless it was on the wrong board, I  rarely do that. At no point did I say you, I said several people and they do it almost daily.  

Why my making a suggestion and complaint gets personal responses to me acting like I am trying to oust you, I don't know how you got any of that from what I posted.  

I don't know about posts you've done or responses you have gotten back. I know this particular post you seem to be making it out pretty personal to me like I had anything to do with whatever issues you have had, and I was not once a part of it.

Stop acting like it is all about you. You weren't even the 10th poster that was on my mind when I posted this. You can also stop acting like I am on a campaign to get people ousted. I am saying that people need to stop deleting their posts because they put their foot in their mouth and get all upset on the responses. Also, I can add that some people need to be a little nicer in responses.

I don't care about this guy drama junk. I care that a huge chunk of posts get deleted after it was on topic.

I see that

Yes, 2 posts got removed. Not sure why... but I assume because the branch post was talking crap about Mods. I responded that I at no point was talking about them. I said posters, pretty clear on that. SO when his got taken down for whatever reason, mine went too.

I have never had a complaint about how they moderate here. They do a pretty good job of saving people from themselves and keeping it to within guidelines.

Very clearly said I was talking about posters getting their own posts removed after they get pissy they don't get the responses they wanted. I know some get reported and obviously TER takes them down if there is a good reason.

A lot of people don't think before they post. Just sad.

I thought it a little ironic that in your original OP about Removal of Threads, that you mentioned banning people or having them heavily moderated for pulling posts, branches and threads down.  Then it gets pulled and this toned down version is posted in its place.  I am prone to say something when I see another get judgmental and want to impose their brand of justice on others for the most insignificant of slights.  You of course will not see what you said in that way, but I did.  I am not taking it personal, it is more of the principal of the matter for me.  Therefore, please do what you must to get me banned.  I am quite interested in seeing if you can make it happen.

I didn't edit this, TER did. Again yes you are taking it personal and for some reason you want to mess with me. Here is your quote:

I am not sure why you think I, who clearly posted about many people and again clarified I wasn't speaking on you, still wants to make a nasty game of telling me to see if I can have recourse on you. So here is an example of you going about trouble when there is no reason to basically screw with me. Why you would do that to someone who has never, not once, messed with you on your posts etc..... Ie I am not the bullies that you complain about that mess with you on the board.... and yet, here you are doing the exact same thing to me when I haven't done anything to you.

I haven't read your posts as a don't read everything on the GD board.... so I don't know any of the situation. All I know now is that you want to do to me what you say all these others do to you. Isn't that interesting? So maybe you are not this big victim you claim you are, since you are trying to victimize me. Makes me wish I had read all those posts you pulled.

I mean, seriously, what is wrong with you that you are being nasty to me? I have now explained several times in response to your pms that I was NOT talking about you. You can stop looking for a fight. Fight with people that got a problem with you. WTF.

I am making this point to you.  That in your original post about Removal of Threads, it was very obvious that you were frustrated and posted some things that you most likely wished you could have taken back.  Then the post gets pulled and a new soften one appears on the same subject with the same name.  The fact that you posted out of frustration shows that you yourself did not adhere to your own advise about thinking before you post.  The fact that you continue to not mention that you made those suggestion about going as far as getting people banned for pulling posts only shows that having a constructive argument with you is near impossible.  

Therefore, I said, put your money where your mouth is, and have me banned.  Nothing personal, just do what you said you wanted in your original thread on Removal of Threads.  Not this watered down version that showed up after the harsher thread was removed.  

What I wanted to get across to you was that there was a better way to say what you did in your original thread.  You could have open your arms and embraced us post pullers and said, hey guys, let's think a little before we post so that all the other posters who put in a lot of thought into what they write don't inadvertently have their posts removed with yours.

Instead, you chose to point fingers at those you feel have wasted your time by pulling your posts, and cast a net on all the rest of us as well, and became prosecutor, jury and judge.  That is what I am trying to point out to you.  No hard feelings, I was just trying to help you to see it from a different perspective.   I am going to concede the argument to you after this post.

Not sure how this situation ended up where it currently is, but truthfully it needs to stop.  

I'm not taking sides, nor do I care about who is perceived to have "fired the first shot".  Just agree to disagree, call it a day and move on

I seriously do not know what is wrong with you, but now I know you post like a confrontational idiot and that is why so many GD posters slam you for what you say. You need to stop pming me and whining about how everyone is bullying you. This whole thread, your responses, are being extremely nasty and idiotic where there was literally no need for it on any sort of a level. Yeah I had clarified

that it wasn't him I was speaking about. Actually the last straw was done by a provider.  

I am not going to name off the several who do this, but actually the two who thought it was them, it wasn't. Rod is pretty good about keeping his posts up, no matter if he gets bad or good responses. He also handles the responses much better than others for the most part. He doesn't go psycho and then have it taken down over and over.

I don't know what is up with the trend of all of this, but it is done by newbies/regular long time posters/and providers alike.  

The whole sense in this post is that it use to be that people who got out of line got their stuff approved before going up. Back then, the things that didn't even make it on the board.... lol. Wish I could read those.

BTW, you are absolutely wrong about tiddles. More posts get trimmed, and threads outright pulled that involve him than any other poster here. Where there is THAT much smoke, there has to be a flame or two.  At least half of what he posts never lasts until the next day, and if you think he doesn't "go psycho" you really need to redefine the word.

Until you have been on the receiving end of a TRUE effin psycho, let us not discredit the seriousness of a TRUE psycho by comparing Rod to one, shall we?
