but you can always out aliases .  It is very hard to
use an alias for long without giving yourself away.

The thing with the obnoxious fun is that more people are
posting with aliases than not.  It's not too bad since
some of the aliases are names in their own right.
The casual aliases are the dangerous ones.  People use
them to attack and then disappear but the damage lingers.

There are pros and cons to the alias question. I do think they should be limited though for sure. Personaly I have only a few times use an alias and then because my posting may have had to do with either services not always offered or something else of that nature. To hide behind such for the opportunity to bash an other is not right though. But I suppose you can say that one cant have their cake and eat it too all the time.

It states in the rules not to flame.  That alone should be reason to moderate someone or ban them.... that's their job.  I sugest you PM the moderator  

Alias' are useful for instance when I want to share some info about LE activity, but some creep outed me right away so I had to delete my post.  I have my photos and phone number plastered out there, I feel an alias is justified.

Let's pretend we don't allow alias' like some other boards.  Then, those that are nasty will still swipe their cookies clean and use other means to post as another user.  Trust me, I've seen that and it can be just as nasty.

The coding would be pretty easy to adjust.

There is some legitimacy to permitting an alias for protective purposes, but the schizophrenic pace that some people adopt with multiples is irritating.

I'd suggest allowing just one alias and only permitting it to be changed every 3-6 months. If a person is "outed" and can plead a legitimate case of malice in the outting, then staff can reset the change date to permit a recyle of the alias.
