Let's say a gal has had 9 reviews, and her average is 9.0.

Now you come along and give a so-so score of 6; her average will drop to 8.7.  If she knows a bit about math, she can figure out you gave her a 6, so is there any point to using this scheme?

This could work if the average was a rolling average that randomly sampled the previous scores, though you'd have to have a bunch of them for that to work.  Delaying the adjustment on a random basis might also be another solution.

I'm as guilty as anyone when it comes to creating the problem of rating inflation, and I've also been the victim of other members' exaggerated scores so I thought this might be a reasonable solution. One that surely would set the table for more accurate information.

Instead of each members scores being shown right next to his name, thus putting pressure on him for favorable scores or his own polishing of the knights suit, how about if the scores were added to all previous scores and an average number appeared next to the girls name and the individual score was kept private? Here are the many good reasons for doing this.......

A member could give a truly honest score without risk of hurt feelings or reprisal.
A member who attempts to give an undeserved high score won't move the needle much from the accurate score average.
A member attempting to hurt a girl with an undeserved low score won't move the needle much from the accurate average.
A provider will rightly have to rely on a great service, a nice attitude, well kept appearance and surrounding, and punctuality to earn the business rather than having calls come in simply because a lot of guys fall victim to group think or plain old ass kissing.

I, for one, would like to know that the ratings I'm basing my decision on (in part) are true and not the product of someone's ulterior motive. One of the driving forces behind price increases and availability are higher ratings. That's fine if it is deserved. Like all things, the market does a pretty good job of working that out. But, when constant rating inflation skews the real number chaos ensues.

Regarding the software...... It seems the info is already available. The average is calculated and put on the girls profile, and its included on the page listing new reviews along side of her name. The only difference would be keeping the score given by an individual separate from his handle.

you wont be able to tell the girls current trend. To me, I just dont look at the girls overall average, I also pay special attention to her last "page" of reviews, or over the last 6 months or so, pending how many she has during that time period. The way it is set up now, a girl cant "rest on her laurels" so to speak because she had several years of great reviews. She has to keep on producing good results. Those individual scores keep her on her toes. Just blending them in to an average with a girl that has 70 reviews isnt going to make a dent. It also works the other way. A girl changes her style, addes to her menu, loses weight, gets a cute hair cut, tans, etc and suddenly her lifetime avg of 7 is now 8.5 over her last 10 reviews but the 60 reviews prior to that really hurts the "real girl" thats available now. Not saying your idea doesnt have merit, just adding my 2 cents to the downside.

I bow to your math skills. However, you kind of helped make my point. A girl who seems to deserve actual 9's was the victim of a pissed off client giving her a 6 and it barely had an effect. A couple more dates and shell make that hiccup up and it will forever be a non factor. It does make me think though..... A client wanting a terrible score known to other members for whatever reason simply has to mention it in the review and his opinion, valid or not, will be there for all to see and consider.

Excellent points. I think, as was mentioned in the post above, perhaps a rolling average of say the last 10-20 reviews would help in that case.

If a provider has gained a lot of weight from when her pics were taken or she is much older than her listed age, you need to point that out in your review. Experienced hobbyists know how to back channel to get the real scoops, but newbies don't.  I've been harassed several times before because of this so I am not sure if it's worth the hassle. You don't really owe anybody anything on this board. I am just trying to point out an honest review is more than just the score.

the provider swings all over the place.   9,9,9,5,9,9,6,8,4,9.....  average would be 7.7.  I'd be really concerned with the 5 and the 4.  Were they YMMV?  Was the client a really hard rater?  Are they an indication the the girl isn't consistent?  Can't see that with just a rolling average.

When I look at he numbers in your example I see a pretty good example of ratings as they are now. I'm no expert but I bet if you booked that girl she probably would be a true 7.7
Which by the way is a pretty good score in the real world.

reviews.  How many of those ladies have numbers that swing all over the place?  Now, be honest and admit to yourself how many you would have seen if there had been 5's and 4's sprinkled in with all the 8's and 9's when you researched them.

ways to go from a 7 to a 10, I think that would really solve a lot of issues. To me, a girl should be eligible for a 10 if she does 4 things: DFK, DATY, BBBJ (but not necessarily cim) and of course CFS. WTF diff does it make if she is into other chicks if I am in a one on one situation with her? And two guys or anal? Ok, if your into it, but I think if the girl does the basic 4 things I have stated above, that should be enough to at least qualify to recieve a 10. All the other is "above and beyond" expectations from a GFE date, at least.

Like I said in the original post....I'm both guilty of, and a victim of rating inflation. When I see a 5-6 score I look more at the reviewer than the girl. If he has 40 reviews and nothing over a 7 I would tend to believe him.if he has 40 reviews and only hers is low but she has no others, I tend to disregard it.
You know as well as I do, there are ways to read TER.

... along with a few suggestions already mentioned.

Now, a few guys have brought up a good point about consistency in the ratings over a period of time.

I like to use the baseball analogy for a moment.

If you see a team with a record of 70 wins and 40 losses, which is a 63.6% win percentage and you say to yourself, that's a pretty good team, huh? But... if you look closely at stats and notice the column that shows the Win/Loss for the last 10 games and you see 3 wins and 7 losses... then you go, 'Whoa, what's wrong with that team now?" Just 10 games ago.. the team was at 67 wins and 33 losses, which is a 67% win percentage.

Now... let's say a provider has 20 reviews to her credit. Maybe, we can get an average of the last 5 reviews and compare that to the overall average. We should be able to get a good idea if her performance has dropped off OR it may have improved.

It's not hard to figure this stuff out mathematically, but the real trick is to code this into a "real time" information that can be updated automatically without any further input from TER management except when the new reviews are approved.

I have done a number of website designs, but I have never used this type of website software that TER uses. So, I don't know how hard or easy it would be to code this properly. Anyways, that's a different topic for another day.
